A Direct Energy Transport road from the Caspian Sea right to EU's Franco-German+ industrial core, thanks to the new AGRI project, between Energy producer Azerbaidjan, Georgia and EU Member Romania, is currently advancing well, and is expected to develop faster than an old and controversial Turkish pipeline project, (too long, too risky and without enough gas), replied Georgia's President. Mikheil Saakashvili to "EuroFora".

Significantly, he was speaking after a Press Conference with Jerzy Buzek, President of EU Parliament, which has recently adopted a Resolution, in 2000 in Strasbourg, calling to boost EU Funding for NLG Terminals throughout al relevant EU Countries, in order to strengthen EU's Energy Independence.

- "We are interested for Democracy, Peace and Stability in Georgia, because we want to make Investments in that area", observed inter alia Buzek.

"EuroFora" asked Saakashvili how things are evolving on the new Azerbaidjan - Georgia - Romania project, the "AGRI, natural liquefied Gas transport plan by Ship", (thanks to High-Tech compression inside Containers), from the Caspian through the Black Sea to EU Member Romania, right at the Danube - Rhine Rivers link, able to bring Caspian Energy directly to EU's Industrial core

- "Now you have the project", "EuroFora" reminded to the President of Georgia one of our earlier encounters at the CoE in Strasbourg, where he had initially told us, carefully, that "this was a good idea, but I prefer to examine real projects"...

- "Yes, of course", I "remember", Georgia's President confirmed now, saluting "EuroFora".

- "It goes, so far, very well", Saakashvili estimated.

- "Actually, I mean, it's very sound Technically", he observed, evoking the New High-Tech solutions of gas liquification and/or compression.

- Moreover, "all the sides agree, not only Romania and the Azeris, but now, Bulgaria is also very interested, etc", he anounced.

- "And the Hungarian, forthcoming EU Chairmanship, shouldn't it be particularly interested, because of  the Danube/Rhine River potential ?", "EuroFora" suggested.

- "Hungarians were of course there, with (new Prime Minister) Victor Urban. We had discussions, and he is coming back to the region", Saakashvili revealed.

-  "So, (the AGRI project) it's on the move, and it will happen Faster than, I think,  anything else", he concluded.

- "Technically, it stands the route, and, I think, it will bypass Nabucco" :  I.e., it will be ready "before" the controversial Turkish old plan for a too Expensive, too Long (zig-zaging far away from Europe), and too Risky (facing Dangers of Earthquakes, Violent Confkicts, Political Blackmails frequent by the Turkish Government, etc), as well as probably useless, (given the existence of better Alternatives), Gas Pipeline, which is moreover threatened to stay practically .. Empty, without enough available gas to fill it up...

Meanwhile, previously scheduled Investments for Nabucco were recently "postponed", on October 2010, for the Next Year (2011) according to specialized Media reports.

The mention of "Technical" points made by S in his reply to E, probably refers to current New Technology innovations which might result into an even Cheaper price, f.ex. thanks to a "Compression" technique, supposed to be even better than Liquefied Gas, according to other sources.

Meanwhile, even the President of gas-producer Azeribaidjan, Aliyev himself, recently stressed that his country is "in favour of Diversifying energy resources' transport Routes", as he reportedly said in relation to "European state's interest"

The AGRI project was recently described at the CoE in Strasbourg by the experienced Azeri EU affairs' Minister Guliev, earlier in Strasbourg (See relevant "EuroFora"s publication).

The new Direction for International relations at "Gaz de France" has also recently told "EuroFora" that they found the Black Sea - Danube/Rhine rivers NLGas Ship Transport idea as very interesting.

New EU Commissioner on Energy, German Gunter Oettering, has already expressed to "EuroFora" his intention to explore EU's new possibilities for Energy Transport through the Danube/Rhine rivers and Black Sear link, etc., both in 2009 (at Bonn's EPP Summit) and in 2010 (in Strasbourg), and he is currently preparing EU's Energy Strategy, due to be presented, debated and voted at the 1st half of 2011, i.e. under Hungarian EU Council chairmanship.

If, (as it was initially scheduled, and several times underlined in Statements given to "EuroFora"s co-founder by Romanian President Trajian Basescu), this schema leads into organiing Danube/Rhine River transport links for Natural Liquefied Gas, then, it would obviously open new ways for all Countries in the region to benefit together, including Russia, who is also Member of the Danube Navigation control body, headquared in Budapest, (while Rhine Navigation's watchdog is located in Strasbourg).

Indeed, Russia, as well as other countries, could f.ex. use the Romanian Sea/River port at Danube's Delta, and/or open a new access through Ukraine's part on Danube's delta, if really needed.

Sarkozy stimulated by Irish "No" challenge : - "It's a call to change and build Europe otherwise. Not later, but now. It won't be easy, but it's fascinating !"

-------------------

* Paris, Elysee, June 14, 2008.

Forthcoming EU Chairman, French President Nikolas Sarkozy, created a surprise by declaring that the challenge of the Irish "No" to the EU Treaty, stimulates his belief that we must immediately change the way Europe is built.

A difficult but fascinating task, that he intends to accomplish in the next 6 Months, during which he will analyse developments 3 times to EU Parliament in Strasbourg, on July, October and December 2008.

But Agenda obliged to give a first reply to Questions raised by the Irish Referendum, on the sidelines of a Press Conference with USA President GWBush, in Paris' Elysee palace, Saturday :

Sarkozy's reply was twofold :

First, the Franco-German position is that EU must make sure "that the Irish Incident does not become a Crisis". Ratification must continue, after 18 EU Member States, also to the rest, as UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown promised.

But, pointing at deeper causes, Sarkozy also criticized bureaucratic "sabotage" of Europe's "founding fathers" original dream. The move reminded his Historic February and July 2007 speaches in Strasbourg on Europe's future, joining criticism to a call for EU's Renaissance, which now became urgent :
