*Brussels/EPP Summit/Academy of Belgium/Angelo Marcopolo/- One of EU Council's "Negotiators" for the Top Jobs of EU Commission, EU External Action, ECB a.o. Leaders during the Next 5 Years (2019-2024), the New Prime Minister of Latvia, and former MEP, Krisjanis Karins, speaking to "Eurofora" and another Journalist in Brussels, strongly Denounced what he saw as a, curiously, Totaly "Negative" attitude from several Other Political Groups, (mainly of the Center-Left : Comp. Supra).

Karins made those Statements at a Crucial Moment for EU's Decision-Making process : I.e. just a few Hours before a 2 Day EU Heads of State/Government Summit starts here in Brussels, due, inter alia, to Decide on the attribution of the above-mentioned Top EU Jobs, shortly after the latest, May 2019 EU Elections, and during a Preceding Summit of the Biggest Political Group, that of ChristianDemocrats/EPP, (where German Chancellor Angie Merkel  is included, Chaired by Joseph Daul from France, Experienced Long-Time former President of EPP's MEPs in EU Parliament), at the Academy of Belgium.

EU Council's President, Donald Tusk, works Together with 6 such Negotiators on EU's Top Jobs : 2 from each Big Political Group : ChistianDemocrats/EPP, Socialists and Liberals : Prime Ministers Pedro Sanchez (Spain) and Antonio Costa (Portugal) for the Socialists, Mark Rutte (Netherlands) and Charles Michel (Belgium) for the Liberals, as well as Krisjanis Karins (Latvia) and Andrej Plenkovic (Croatia) for the Christian Democrats/EPP.

+In Addition, EU Parliament's Political Groups of MEPs (who have also to Vote and Agree with EU Council's Candidates for EU's Top Jobs) have also appointed 2 similar Negotiators from each Political Group, currently working intensively in order to prepare Final Decisions.

------------------------------

Significantly, Karins became Recently a New Prime Minister in his Country, precisely because, according to converging Press Reports, he has shown a Personal Capacity to succesfully Associate Many and Various Political Parties all Together, inside one New Coalition Government, that he is now Heading on 2019.

- But, on the currently "Hot" Issue of the 2019 EU Elections' Winner, Leading Candidate for the Top Job of Future EU Commission, Manfred Weber, Chairman of the ChristianDemocrat/EPP Group of MEPs in EU Parliament, who notoriously started, all out of a sudden, to be curiously, systematicaly contested and sometimes even grossly Insulted, by certain Opposed Politicians, shortly After having Succeeded for his Geroup to arrive 1st in the latest EU Elections, (See, f.ex.: ..., etc), Karins appeared astonishingly Upset, sincerely Shocked and Revolted from what he Witnessed :

- "We (EPP) are Looking for Solutions", he stressed from the outset.

- However, "the Difficulty that I see, is that I Hear a Lot of "Negative", "Negative", "Negative".... from Other Sides, he Complained.

- "But", Curiously, "I don't Hear something "Positive", from them, Karins Denounced.

- "The Positive comes from the EPP : We have Provisions, we have a Program, we have a Candidate (President Weber), that I'm convinced he's extremely Qualified, and Able to Discuss", (i.e. Negotiate eventual Compromises).

- Nevertheless, "what I'm Hearing, so far, from Others" is Always "No, No, No !". I am Not Hearing (not even) a "Yes !"...

- "And that's Over the bip"..., he concluded, obviously Exasperated.

+ As for a Pretext sometimes abused by some against the Most Successful in the latest EU Elections "SpitzenKandidat"(alias "Leading Candidate), Manfred Weber : i.e. the current lack of a National Government's Experience, the Recently appointed Prime Minister of Latvia was also Critical :

-  "Experience is a Tricky thing in Politics", he Warned, as a matter of Principle.

 - F.ex., "Before anyone becomes Prime Minister, ...Noone has been Prime Minister for the 1st Time"... In fact, "it's a little bit like Beauty : It's in the Eye of the stake-Holder" => - "So, <<Qualified>> depends on the View of the Person Judging", he warned, in substance.

- "As far as the EPP's Candidate, Manfred Weber" is concerned, there is no doubt : "I Worked with him,  during the Past 5 Years, (as MEP in EU Parliament, where Weber is President of the Biggest Group of MEPs : that of ChristianDemocrats/EPP),

"and he is Extremely Qualified for European Politics, for the Group Offices, etc", Prime Minister Karins concluded.

Indeed, one of the Key Points that Weber's Critics often Neglect, is the Fact that a National Election and/or a National Government Job, might, eventually, give More "Executive Power",

But, in fact, canNot Compare with what it takes in order to Win a European Election, be Elected and Recognized inside a European/PanEuropean/International Organisation, and/or Experience the Multilateralism, GeoPolitics, and other Complex Parameters that a Real European Top Politician has to Manage, in Addition to a Necessary Capacity to also Bring Together, and make Cooperate Efficiently, various People from Different Origins, who must Find a Joint Horizon.

+ In Addition, afer the Latest EU Elections of May 2019, the "Other" 3 or 4 Political Groups that Prime Minister Karins Criticized Today, have become, in Fact, a ... Minority inside the New EU Parliament, which has Now got much More and Bigger, Various Political Groups, where the Right Side of the Political Spectrum was just given by the European People, the Absolute Majority of MEPs, (See: ..., etc).

++ Shortly before that, from April 2019, Prime Minister Karins, while addressing EU Parliament's Plenary, had reportedly Warned that it was "useless" to struggle against so-called "Populist" Movements, but Better to try to "Understand" why People are attracted by several among them...

(Opinion).

In Democracy, the forthcoming choices for EU's Top Jobs, as the New EU Parliament's President, new EU Commission's President (+ probably EU Council's President, EU Foreign Minister, etc) should be made according to EU Citizens' Votes in June 7, 2009 European Elections, and main EU Governments' strategic policies.

At the heart of the biggest EU Countries, in France and Germany, EU Citizens clearly voted for a renovated, non-technocratic but Political Europe based on Values, declared explicitly incompatible with Turkey's controversial EU bid.

This main choice was also supported in several other small or medium EU Countries, such as Austria (cf. promise of a Referendum), Spain (cf. EPP program's reservations vis a vis Enlargment), etc., while EPP Parties won also in Poland, Hungary, Cyprus, etc.

In other Countries, whenever Governing coalitions didn't make these choices or eluded them, continuing to let a Turkish lobby push for its entry into the EU, they paid a high price, and risked to damage Europe, by obliging EU Citizens to massively vote for euro-Sceptics whenever they were the only ones to offer a possibility to promise  real change and oppose Turkey's demand to enter into the EU :

It's for this obvious reason that British UKIP (IndDem) succeeded now (after many statements against Turkey's EU bid) to become Great Britain's 2nd Party, unexpectedly growing bigger even than the Governing Labour Party, as well as the Liberal party  ! Facts prove that it's not an isolated phenomenon : A similar development occured in the Netherlands, where Geert Wilders "Party for Freedom" (PVV) became also the 2nd biggest in the country, (after EPP), boosting the chances of a politician who had withdrawn in 2004 from an older party "because he didn't agree with their position on Turkey". And in several other EU Member Countries, even previously small parties which now focused on a struggle against Turkey's controversial demand to enter in the EU, won much more or even doubled the number of their MEPs (fex. Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, etc).

On the contrary, whenever Socialist and oher parties were explicitly or implicitly for Turkey's controversial EU bid, they obviously lost Citizens' votes and fell down to an unprecedented low.

In consequence, EU Citizens clearly revealed their main political choices, in one way or another : They voted to change for less Bureaucracy, but more Politics and Values in a Europe really open to EU Citizens, but without Turkey's controversial EU bid.

Recent political developments are obviously different from the old political landscape which existed in the Past of 1999-2004, when Socialists based on Turkish 1% vote governed undisputed not only in Germany, but also in the UK, Greece and elsewhere, France followed old policies decided when it had been divided by "cohabitation", before the 3 "NO" to EU  Referenda since May 2005, before Merkel, before Sarkozy, etc.... before the surprises of 7 June 2009 new EU Elections.

If the current candidates to the Top EU jobs promise and guarantee to respect People's democratic choices, OK.

Otherwise, Europe must find new candidates, really motivated and able to implement these democratic choices of the People.

The beginning of crucial, final Decisions are scheduled for the 1st EU Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg, in the middle of July, and they could be completed towards the October session, when Lisbon Treaty's fate will have been fixed.

Polls

2009 EU Elections were won by Parties against Technocracy and Turkey's controversial EU bid, while the 1999-2004 Majority Abstention trend decelerated. What should be done in 2009-2014 ?
