*Strasbourg/Angelo Marcopolo/- In one of the First Post-Virus' Confinement Elections in Europe, the People of Croatia, (who held the EU Presidency at the 1st Half of 2020), Massively Voted, in an almost 2/3 Super Majority, above + 62% for the Right Side of the Political Spectrum !

This Popular Vote Won a Large, Crystal-clear Majority of about 95 MP Seats for the Right, out of a Total of 151.

On the Contrary, the Left Side of the Political Spectrum got Only a Minority of about 35% of the Votes, resulting in just 35 MPs, (after Losing - 12 Seats in all)...

-------------------

Naturaly the Leading Party of the Right is that of the incumbent Government, the "Croatian Democratic Union" ("HDZ" : ChristianDemocrats/EPP), of Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, which got 37,26% of the Votes and 66 MPs, Winning +5 More than Before, (See, f.ex., Prime Minister Plenkovic's and his former vice-Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Marija Buric's -currently New CoEs Secretary General- Replies to "Eurofora"'s Questions, when they Chaired the CoE in Strasbourg, at: http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/primeministerplenkoviconeucoecoop.html + http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/coeminoritiesprotection20yearsafter.html, etc).

In Contrast, at the Left, the "Socialists" of "ReStart" get Only 24,87% of the Votes and 41 MPs, Losing -5 Seats.

+ But a New Party of the Right : called "Homeland", and led by former Presidential Candidate Miroslav Skoro, an Original Singer/Author Artist, (Rightists : See, f.ex. http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/croatiapresidentials2in3right.html, etc), Won almost 11% of the Votes, and 16 MP Seats, now, for the First Time !

Those Rightists seem to have Won Votes and MP Seats by Attracting mainly Former Abstentionists, and Former Voters from Various Other Pre-Existing Parties at the Right Side of the Political Spectrum, such as, f.ex., the  "Bridge", (alias "Most", of Bozo Petrov), which Lost - 5 MPs, (Keeping just 8), and/or the "People's Party/Liberal Democrats", (alias "HNS-LD", of Stromar), which Lost - 8 MPs, (Keeping Only 1).

++ Various Other, Smaller Parties, at the Right Side of the Political Spectrum, either Won, for the 1st Time, a Small Number of MPs, (f.ex., the "Smart" Party, alias "Pametno", of Oreskovic, which Got 4% of the Votes and +3 MPs), or just Kept a Few MPs, (as the "People's Party/Reformists", alias "NS-R" of Cacic, Maintining 1% of the Votes and 1 MP), while Many, Old and New, Tiny Parties of the Right, (such as "Civic party", "Right Ligue", "Authentic Rights", "DemoChristians", "Peasants",  etc) got some Thousands of Votes (from 0,44% to 0,15%), But Not MPs.

--------------------------

A New Party appeared also at the Left Side of the Political Spectrum : the "Green-Left" (with a "Collective Leadership"), But it Won Less than the New Rightist Party of "HomeLand" (Comp. Supra), getting just 6,9% of the Votes and 7 MPs.

They, apparently, Profited from a Part of the Loss of - 4 MPs by the "ReStart" of the "Socialists" (Comp. Supra), and/or from the Disappearance of the - 8  MPs of the "Enough of Robbery !" Party, (alias "Human Shield"), perhaps also from the Loss of the "Labour and Solidarity"'s Unique (-1) MP.

But the Rest, either went to the Right, or to Abstentionists...

----------------------------------

    >>> It's true that this Election, one of the First at the very Beginning of "DeConfinement" phase of the Virus' Cisis, obviously faced a too High Abstention, the Biggest Ever since the "First Democratic" Election of 1990, with a Minority Turnout of Only about 46% among the Registered Voters...

I.e. it closely Followed that of France's Local Elections (on 28 of June, with More than 60% of Abstentionists !), But with a Little Better Participation in Croatia, where it was about Parliamentary Elections, which Determine the Government of the Country.

-------------------------------------------------

=> These Results clearly show that the Stability of a New Government, according to the Democraticaly expressed Wish of the Croatian People, (Comp. Facts Supra), would depend, Mainly, from an Agreement between the Principal Parties of the Right.

It's certainly Not with Only a Few, InSufficient MPs Dispersed accross some Marginal, Minority and/or Regionalist Grouplets (with just 3 or, Often, 1 MP...), that the Country might be really Governed...

(Opinion).

In Democracy, the forthcoming choices for EU's Top Jobs, as the New EU Parliament's President, new EU Commission's President (+ probably EU Council's President, EU Foreign Minister, etc) should be made according to EU Citizens' Votes in June 7, 2009 European Elections, and main EU Governments' strategic policies.

At the heart of the biggest EU Countries, in France and Germany, EU Citizens clearly voted for a renovated, non-technocratic but Political Europe based on Values, declared explicitly incompatible with Turkey's controversial EU bid.

This main choice was also supported in several other small or medium EU Countries, such as Austria (cf. promise of a Referendum), Spain (cf. EPP program's reservations vis a vis Enlargment), etc., while EPP Parties won also in Poland, Hungary, Cyprus, etc.

In other Countries, whenever Governing coalitions didn't make these choices or eluded them, continuing to let a Turkish lobby push for its entry into the EU, they paid a high price, and risked to damage Europe, by obliging EU Citizens to massively vote for euro-Sceptics whenever they were the only ones to offer a possibility to promise  real change and oppose Turkey's demand to enter into the EU :

It's for this obvious reason that British UKIP (IndDem) succeeded now (after many statements against Turkey's EU bid) to become Great Britain's 2nd Party, unexpectedly growing bigger even than the Governing Labour Party, as well as the Liberal party  ! Facts prove that it's not an isolated phenomenon : A similar development occured in the Netherlands, where Geert Wilders "Party for Freedom" (PVV) became also the 2nd biggest in the country, (after EPP), boosting the chances of a politician who had withdrawn in 2004 from an older party "because he didn't agree with their position on Turkey". And in several other EU Member Countries, even previously small parties which now focused on a struggle against Turkey's controversial demand to enter in the EU, won much more or even doubled the number of their MEPs (fex. Bulgaria, Hungary, Greece, etc).

On the contrary, whenever Socialist and oher parties were explicitly or implicitly for Turkey's controversial EU bid, they obviously lost Citizens' votes and fell down to an unprecedented low.

In consequence, EU Citizens clearly revealed their main political choices, in one way or another : They voted to change for less Bureaucracy, but more Politics and Values in a Europe really open to EU Citizens, but without Turkey's controversial EU bid.

Recent political developments are obviously different from the old political landscape which existed in the Past of 1999-2004, when Socialists based on Turkish 1% vote governed undisputed not only in Germany, but also in the UK, Greece and elsewhere, France followed old policies decided when it had been divided by "cohabitation", before the 3 "NO" to EU  Referenda since May 2005, before Merkel, before Sarkozy, etc.... before the surprises of 7 June 2009 new EU Elections.

If the current candidates to the Top EU jobs promise and guarantee to respect People's democratic choices, OK.

Otherwise, Europe must find new candidates, really motivated and able to implement these democratic choices of the People.

The beginning of crucial, final Decisions are scheduled for the 1st EU Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg, in the middle of July, and they could be completed towards the October session, when Lisbon Treaty's fate will have been fixed.

Polls

2009 EU Elections were won by Parties against Technocracy and Turkey's controversial EU bid, while the 1999-2004 Majority Abstention trend decelerated. What should be done in 2009-2014 ?
