*Strasbourg/Angelo Marcopolo/- Speaking at EU Parliament's Plenary Session's beginning, Today in Strasbourg, after its President, Antonio Tajani, called him on the forum, mainstream ChristianDemocrat/EPP MEP Christoforou from Cyprus, strongly Denounced Turkey's current "Threats" and "Provocations" against EU Members' Greece and Cyprus' Exclusive Economiqe Zones and bullying of European Oil/Gas Companies' peaceful exploration and/or exploitation of Natural Resources which belong tp Europe.

EU Commission's vice-President on Energy Sefcovic, and New French President Macron, speaking to "Eurofora" at different occasions, about those, still unfolding, South-Eastern Mediterranean Energy resources' findings, (which extend also to adjacent Israel and Egypt's fields, in close cooperation with them), have earlier Welcomed and qualified that area's New potential as a probable "2nd Norway" and "a Big Chance for all" concerned, (See: http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/eucommissionersefcoviconcyprusenergy.html + http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/frencheconomyministermacronegyptisraelcyprusgaspipelinebigchance.htm l).

- "2 EU Member States, Cyprus and Greece, are currently Facing the pressing and expansionist Threats of Turkey, which Violates their Territorial Waters and Exclusive Economic Zones, imposing also Naval Exclusions", MEP Christoforou accused Ankara.

- "Turkey even went as far as to Threaten also European Companies, such as ENI (Italy) and TOTAL (France), for the Exploration of Natural Gas in that area", he pointed out.
=> Therefore, - "This is a crucial Challenge also of EU's Credibiilty", also because - "It's a Violation of Sovereign Rights, not just of 2 EU Member States', but also of EU's itself".

- Indeed, "a 3rd Counry canNot claim to be an EU Accession Candidate, and, at the same time, to Violate EU's Values and rules", the MEP criticized, as a matter of General Principle.
'
- "That's a Dangerous practice from Turkey, and it provokes Risks in Eastern Mediterranean" Sea,  while also "Insulting and provoking 2 EU Member States", he Warned.

=> - That's why all this "calls for EU Solidarity, for Respect of (EU) Values and Rules, as well as to Take Measures vis a vis a 3rd Counntry which provokes Instability in that area, while also Violating EU Principles", the ChristianDemocrat/EPP Cypriot MEP, urged in conclusion.

The Issue might be discussed also on the sidelines of the forthcoming "G 7" Summit of Heads of State/Government in Taormina (Italy), scheduled for May 25-26, which will be attended also by New US President Don Trump, while, in addition to the Hosting Country : Italy's ENI, and New French President Macron's TOTAL from France, it's also USA's "Noble Energy", as well as "Exxon-Mobil oil" (the former Company of New USA State secretary Rex Tillerson, who has notoriously worked as its Long-time CEO), which are among those already actively involved in Exploration/Exploitation plans of New Oil/Gas Resources around EU Member Cyprus.

UK Prime Minister, Gordon Brownn's promise to French President Sarkozy that Great Britain will proceed to Lisbon Treaty's ratification was certainly fuelled further by MEPs' warning, meanwhile in Strasbourg, that all Enlargement stops until EU can have efficient Institutions for more than 27 member Countries.

EU Parliament's President, German MEP Hans Gert Poettering, formally announced this position, after consulting all Political Groups' Chairmen, Monday in Strasbourg, and most MEPs made the point crystal clear during Plenary Debates on Wednesday.

Thus, from Thursday, UK's House of Commons, at Westminster, gave its "Green Light" to Lisbon Treaty's ratification, which was completed later-on, after ovecoming some last minute attempts to block the process.

    - In only 3 other Member Countries we feel some "hesitations" : Poland, Czech Republic and Cyprus", said, meanwhile, EU Chairman-in-office, Slovenian Foreign Minister, Dr. Dimitri Ruppel, speaking to EU Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee in Strasbourg, However, "I didn't hear any explicit refusal", he carefully added.

Rupel's fears were later bellied in Cyprus' case, where a wide majority of political parties confirmed their support to the EU Treaty, but fears were confirmed in Poland's case, while Czechs said they waited for their Constitutional Court to pronounce itself.

A paradox is that the Polish President Lech Kaczynski, who reportedly expressed concerns about Lisbon Treaty, had personally signed himself its blueprint, while, on the contrary, Cyprus' new President, Christofias, despite its own party's opposal, declared that he'll respect the signature of his precedessor, former President Tassos Papadopoulos, in favor of EU Treaty.

But, "all that noise is a misinterpretations by some Western Media : Poland will ratify the EU Treaty, and even earlier than some other Member Countries", declared to "EuroFora", in a surprisingly optimistic tone, the Polish Chairman of EU Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, Jacek Saryuswolski...
