*Strasbourg/EU Parliament/Angelo Marcopolo/- Modern Web Technologies give a Chance to put Europe at Citizens' hands, instead of just Bureaucrats, and we must explore this potential in the foreseable Future, Replied in substance to our Question about "Eurofora"s project the Top Candidate in the forthcoming EU Elections, President of EU Parliament's Biggest Group, that of ChristianDemocrats/EPP, German MEP Manfred Weber, who is also SpitzenKandidate for the Next EU Commission's Presidency in the period of 2019-2024.

- "Eurofora" had asked Weber whether the recent Problems attested in Many Countries in the World about Citizens' Distance or even mistrust vis a vis Public Institutions, should be Faced in Europe also by Activating a largely untapped yet Potential of EU's Lisbon Treaty to Develop "Regular Dialogue" between "Civil Society" and "European Institutions" on their main "Actions", particularly by using the Simple and Easy Links nowadays offered by Internet TeleCommunications, with Regular Debates Before important Decisions are taken, which affect People's Lives and/or Society at large.

- Indeed, "Internet offers Opportunities to increase the Participation of (EU) Citizens", Weber agreed from the outset.

=> - "So, we (EU) have to look for Modern Bases in order to involve People", he urged.

>>> - Because "Europe must be in the Hands of (EU) Citizens !", Manfred Weber argued, going at the Heart of the Matter.

 - Since, in fact, EU's Future is "Not just about Bureaucrats, Technicians, or Politicians alone : It's (now) more up to the Citizens, he concluded in his Reply to the above-mentioned "Eurofora"s Question

+ Meanwhile, Weber had just Stressed the Importance that he gives to practical and efficient, democratic "Compromises" in European Policy, which enable various forces to Work "Together".

Significantly, he was Speaking shortly after an Exceptional - and, probably, his Concluding - Press Conference at EU Parliament in Strasbourg, at the Last Plenary Session of this April 2019, before the Crucial EU Elections on May.

- Following some recent "Crisis", (as, f.ex., that of "BREXIT", a sudden Mass Migration huge "Tsunami" mainly through Turkey (on 2015/2016+), etc., People need, Now, in Europe, mainly a "Stability", he observed.

- This includes, particularly, Recent and Forthcoming, Future Developments mainly in order to Protect the "Security" of Citizens, to efficiently Face the Challenge of "Mass Migration", as well as to pursue Further Europe's "Economic Growth", he Highlighted, in a threefold plan.

On this occasion, Weber symbolically announced that he intends to Start his official pre-Electoral EU Camaign, next Tuesday, "in Greece".

Meanwhile, he had already expressed, from the outset, his Solidarity also with France, concerning Yesterday's (Monday evening's), non-elucidated yet, UnPrecedented Fire and partial Desruction of the landmark, Popular Historic and UNESCO Monument of "Notre Dame de Paris" almost Millenary Cathedral :

- "It's not only French, but also our European common History and Identity", stressed the Top ChristianDemocrat/EPP political leader from Germany, since the Beginning of his Statements to Journalists today.

F.ex. "Eurofora"'s co-Founder remembers, indeed, the fact that, when just a Child aged only 11, spontaneously got the shivers, when visiting the awesome "Notre Dame de Paris"' upper Floors (those that were, precisely, Destroyed by an unprecedented Fire yesterday), heading right in front of the SunLight, and thinking at the Historic People's Human lives and Social struggles, as unforgettably depicted by the World-famous Writer Victor Hugo there...

It's at a splendid Natural landscape, inside a Forest plateau with superbe view over Paris, at Saint Cloud, that the incoming French EU Presidency had the good idea to join together all EU Member Countries' Ministers of Environment and Energy, in two overlaping EU Councils in a series, from 3 to 5 July 2008.

Fresh rain happily dissipated July's heatwave, before a bright Sun shined at the conclusion of the EU gathering around a huge statue of Earth (See Photo).

French super-Minister of State for Energy, Transport and Environment, Jean-Louis Borloo, and Minister for Environment, Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet chaired the first EU Ministerial meeting at Paris' area, together with EU Commissioners Demas and Pielbags, surprising Journalists with improvised Press-points, at key-moments of the discussions.

Environment and Energy are key to the development of New Technologies to boost Europe's role in the World, while also responding to Citizens' concerns, stressed Borloo, speaking to Journalists earlier in Strasbourg.

According to well-infomed sources from the French EU Presidency, the aim is to stimulate a growing trend inside EU Parliament, via various on-going Reports developping in parallel, towards achieving the necessary targets before December.

For this purpose, Top-level representatives from Borloo's super-Ministry are expected to come in Strasbourg during EU Parliament's plenary, next Wednesday, a key official told "EuroFora".

Polls

2009 EU Elections were won by Parties against Technocracy and Turkey's controversial EU bid, while the 1999-2004 Majority Abstention trend decelerated. What should be done in 2009-2014 ?
