*Brumath/Angelo Marcopolo/- In Statements made shortly after "BREXIT", near Strasbourg's EU/CoE Institutions' Headquarters, Experienced former French President, and currently New Head of main Opposition Party "the Republicans" (ChristianDemocrats/EPP), Nicolas Sarkozy, stressed that Europeans are United also by History and Culture, Refusing Divisions which Risk to Destroy the European Civilisation", as he Warned, before making to Journalists, including "Eurofora", some more cool comments about ..."Euro 2016" Football championship, (where France, after a Surprise Win v. Germany, faces Portugal at the Final Match on Sunday), expressing his "Stupefaction" and "Appreciation" for several Players' performance...

A very Energetic looking Sarkozy, artfuly alternating from Humour to Tragic Warnings stimulated Thousands of fans  gathered at Brumath Village, near Strasbourg, who Masively Applauded him many times, at the Eve of Crucial Forthcoming Campaigns for new Presidential and Parliamentarian Elections in Less than a Year's Time, from April 2017+.

- "Saturday and Sunday are Important Days for Politics, since they often have the Most Interesting News", observed Sarkozy from the outset, revealing also, in a Speech to Thousands of Enthousiastic Supporters, that, "when I returned to the Party (after Years of Absence), the First person I saw arriving to Work that Morning came only After 10 o'Clock"...

sarko_smiling_400

- "18 Months After" ReUniting and Restoring a previously Divided  and Financialy Broke Party, which has now Settled its Budget and revendicates "250.000 Members",  Sarkozy denounced Divisions, stressing : - "How can someone Unite France, when he doesn't even Unite his Family ?".  Certainly, "a Leader is made in order to Lead, even in Difficult Moments". However, "I Respect All Opinions, Democratically", he promissed, "but Face to Face in a Loyal way", (i.e., mainly, in a Public Debate).

    - Just Before he Returns Back to Active Politics, "Polls gave to Marie Le Pen's party (FN EuroSceptic Rightists) the 1st Rank" in France, he reminded, while also fustigating anew that kind of Deals with Socialists which "brought Austrian ChristianDemocrats Down to Less than 11%, while a  Far Right Candidate passed to the 2nd Round of the recent Presidential Elections, against an Unknown "Green" Politician", he observed.

 - However, it's also true that, meanwhile, Some pushed to Break Down our (National) Identity", But -"We are Fed Up with" a kind of "Dictature of Minorities". "Here it's France  !  "We doN't want Communautarism" (i.e. Cultural Ghettos and Divisions). "There is Only One Community : The National Community". "We've Had Enough to See at the Streets, in the Media, in TV, too many things in which we don't Recognize no more ourselves", "We Love that Country : France, that we Received from our Parents, and want to Transmit to our Children and GrandChildren .. We DoN't Want to Change our Culture, our Way of Life, our Traditions",  "this Country (France) that we received as Heritage, that our Parents Worked to Forge, and that we Revendicate", he stressed, Strongly Applauded by the People.

    - So that, the Forthcoming 2017 Elections, (in France, but also in Germany, and elsewhere in Europe), in fact, raise an Existential Question : - "Will France (and all Europe) still Exist ?", Sarkozy  Wondered.

    - "Here, in France, We are Open. We are Welcoming People. But, those who Join us, have to Adapt themselves to the Native Population. Not vice-versa !", he pointd out amidst Popular Applause.

    - "There are here People with Various, Different Histories and Cultures. But there is something which Unites us  : I wish a Great France, Open, Generous, and with Solidarity". Nevertheless, whenever someone wants to join us, "the First thing to do is to Love and Respect" this Country (France).

    - "I'll Never accept a Chilly,  Selfish France", "Nor a France  Cut off from Europe", etc. "But, ... Regardless of the Origin of the Parents of those Childrens who join us, we must Teach them the History and Culture" of their Host Country (France) !

     - F.ex, "My own Father was from Hungary and my (Maternal) Grand-Father from Greece, but they Teached me the History of France, and my Ancestors became those from (Ancient) Gaulle, because I am French !", Sarkozy shared his own, Personal Feelings with sincerity, Applauded.

+ Another Emotional moment, naturaly, was when the French Top Politician Strongly stressed that - "We, Republicans, Don't Accept those Barbaric Massacres in Paris !", by ISIL's Deadly Extreme Islamic Terrorists and atrocious BeHeaders, even of Innocent and Defenseless Civilian People, as he pointed out Widely Applauded. On the Contrary, he Called to "Honour the Memory of our Compatriots Cowardly Murdered", while also pointing at French People's "Capacity to Overcome Challenges".

---------------------

    - "I would like to Conclude by making 2 Points on Europe :", Sarkozy added, speaking very Near to Strasbourg's EU and CoE Headquarters, just 12 Minutes Time away. "There are 2 Red Lines", he observed :

    - First,  "Both from the Right, and the Left side, there is, nowadays, a Growing Criticism. Nowadays, Europe is Challenged. The European Ideal is contested". And "I Know that several Issues still have to Find Solutions. I leaded Europe, when I Chaired the EU (back on 2008), and, if France wasn't there, even Dangerous Conflicts risked to Spread, as he reminded, evoking the Russia - Georgia Clash, which had, notoriously, been Stoped by Sarkozy's immediate Diplomatic Action vis a vis Both the then Russian Preident, Medevedev, and the then Georgian President, Shakashvili, succeding to broker a Peace Agreement, (Comp., f.ex., "Eurofora"s relevant Publication from Northern Italy, then, where German Chancelor Angie Merkel was visiting, while the then Pope Benedict had just Launched a Vibrant Call to Stop Bloodshed and Destructions, and Prevent a Division of the European Continent : http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/irish/benepeace.html).

    - But, it's not because of some Errors, that we should throw away the Baby, together with the Water of the Bathtub"..., he pointed out.

+ Also Because "the European Continent has Faced some of the Worst Conflicts in the World, Back in the (First Half of the) 20th Century", (f.ex. with 2 WW, etc), Sarkozy reminded.

++ And, even if "We are, nowadays, some 500 Millions Europeans", Nevertheless, in some Years, the World is due to have a Population of about 12  Billions...", he observed in addition.

=> That's one Reason more, for which "I will Never Accept the Division of Europe, because this would provoke Risks to make Disappear the European Civilisation !", Sarkozy Warned.

sarko_point_400

    - In fact, "there is a European Civilisation, a European Culture, and a European Continent" which "Unites us" (Europeans) all, he strongly stressed.

+ A 2nd "Red Line", is about the Franco-German EU core :  From 1870 until 1945 we (France) Fought against Germany, and you, here in Alsace (Borderline), you perfectly Know what it really means", he reminded.

    - But the Franco-German ReConciliation is, nowadays, a Red Line.  I will Never Accept that anyone might, eventualy, disrupt it. Certainly, there may still be one or another Differences of Views, some concrete Choices to Criticize. But, the Franco-German Axis, Friendship and ReConciliation, is Untouchable, it's not just Politics, but Our History", Sarkozy stressed.

    -----

+ Then, as far as it concerns the English, (i.e. the recent BREXIT), it can't be Both In and Out". So that, f.ex.," I'd call for the French Government to Welcome in Paris all those Financial Businesses which couldn't stay, no more, in the UK, he suggested.

    - But, as we saw also in France, Back on 2005, (i.e. after the "No" to EU Constitution Referendum, mainly Fueled by Popular Opposition to Turkey's Controversial and UnPopular EU bid, partialy added to some Economic controversies), it's always "Better to Speak to the People", and not just to those Establishment's "Elites" who Betrayed everything", urged Nicolas Sarkozy,

sarkozy_smile_direct_agg__peoples_hands_eurofora_400

- who had already Succeeded to be Brilliantly Elected in 2007, while proposing a New, "Simplified" EU Treaty (which becama the "Lisbon Treaty" on  2010) and to Freeze Turkey's controversial EU bid, Succeeding then to Overccome that Previous EU Challenge.

Swedish Foreign Minister, Carl Bildt, speaking  to "EuroFora", denied rumors on Turkey's attempts to avoid an EU check of its obligations on Cyprus on December 2009 by blackmailing Nicosia to either accept any deal with intransigeant Turkish claims contrary to EU values on the island's political issue, or face threats against the territorial integriy of the EU island, semi-occupied by Ankara's army.

On the contrary, the incoming EU President-in-office, speaking exclusively to "EuroFora", promissed that he will act for EU Council's decisions on December 2009 assessment of Turkey's commitments on Cyprus to be kept.

Bildt was asked to react to Cyprus' President Christofias' denunciation, earlier this week, that some want to exert "pressure" on Cyprus in order for Turkey to escape from its obligations.

Avoiding to mention any precise Deadline, Bildt, however, warned about "Consequences" in case of "failure" to reunite Cyprus, but without saying whose responsibility an eventual deadlock might be.

Asked by "EuroFora" if there is a risk for "Turkey's commitments to "be forgotten or downgraded", "despite crystal-clear EU Council decisions and EU Parliament's latest Resolution on the assessment to make at the end of this year on Turkey's obligations", according to rumours that, instead of pressing Turkey, on the contrary, there might be "pressure on Cyprus", even "blackmail", as Media reported and President Christofias denounced this week, Bildt denied :

- "No ! ", he clearly replied.

- On the contrary, invited by "EuroFora", to "reassure that the Swedish EU Presidency (7-12/2009) will keep a fair stance, based on principles",  Bildt promised that "we (Swedish EU Presidency) will be very clear on all of the decisions taken by the (EU) Council".

He added, however, that "we have very numerous decisions that have been taken" by EU Council, as if he warned, also, on something else.

- "'I am not aware of any sort of statements coming out today''", Bildt started to say, on our reference to Cyprus' President Christofias" denunciation of Turkish lobby's manoeuvers this week, replying earlier to 'another"EuroFora"'s question during a Press Conference at EU Parliament in Strasbourg.

 - '"I know the issues that you' are concerned with'", he added, remembering  the statements he gave us when Sweden was chairing the PanEuropean CoE on 2008.

- "But, obviously, .. I think that Cyprus' Peace negotiations are extremenly important".

- And "'I think that we are at a unique moment in History, in the sens that both (Cyprus') President Christofias and Mr. Talat (the Turkish Cypriot leader), are personally convinced of the need to overcome the division".

 - "It's 20 Years since the fall of Berlin Wal, but we still have a Capital in Europe (Nicosia) that's divided". ,

- 'I don't that we should loose any time in overcoming that"..

 - ''We should be aware of the fact that success will bring great benefits, but failure, will also have major consequences. There will not be Status Quo' " It's a question of seeking a solution, or entering another situation, which is somewhat difficult to see exactly how that could evolve", he warned.

- "That being said, this is a negotiation for Cyprus itself", Bildt admitted.

 - ''We (EU) can support, the (EU) Commission primarily, be technically helpful, and then, of course, there is a specific role for the UN, when it comes to the Cyprus' situation".

- "At least so far. It might not be for ever'. Certainly not for ever, but for this period of time", Bildt added, skiping now any reference to concrete threats on UNO's Peace keeping force in face of more than 40.000 Ankara's soldiers, contrary to some Press claims, (See previous NewsReports).

Replying to another "EuroFora"'s Question,  if anyone might attempt to "impose a Deadline for the conclusion" of Cyprus' Talks on December 2009, Bildt avoided to speak of any precise Time-frame, and indirectly evoked the fact that  35 Years of Turkish Invasion/Occupation obviously durated too long :

'- "If I was from Cyprus, I would say that the Deadline was Yesterday ! '",
Bildt concluded.

Cyprus' Government Spokesman, Stephanou, reportedly pointed out that "a settlement is possible on December if Turkey changes its stance", accepting a solution for the reunification of the island based on UNO resolutiona and EU principles.

imag0082_400

Earlier, EU Chair, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeld, highlighted an "historic opportunity" to "re-Unite" Cyprus according to EU's "basic Values"' (i.e. Human Rights) and 'Rules'", in a last-minute change of his draft speech to EU Parliament in Strasbourg.

The initial Draft spoke only about "healing" the island.

Significantly, Reinfeldt linked Cyprus' reunification with Turkey's obligations to respect EU's "Values" and "follow" EU's "common Rules" :

    - What is "called Membership Negotiations" should lead, "at- the end of the day", into "sharing a set of common Basic Values (i.e. Human Rights, Democracy, etc), and following common Rules", stressed Reinfeld from the outset.

    - "This is something that those on the Outside (of the EU), are now  contemplating", up "to Ankara", for "a solution" on "Cyprus", observed the EU Chairman, immediately afterwards..

    - "Both sides of Cyprus have been granted a historic opportunity to together reach an agreement on a solution to re-Unite the island, that has been divided for far too long", said Reinfeldt, modifying his draft text.

-  "The Swedish Presidency will act ...in accordance with Commitments EU has made, on the basis of Criteria that apply", "as a Honest Broker", he promised.

- "To those on the inside (of the EU), allowing the membership process to become an opportunity to solve protracted disputes, can be tempting", he added.

"In such cases, we must find solutions that can benefit both sides, and open up a way forward. Otherwise, it would jeopardize the progress we have made towards EU integration", Reinfeldt said.
