In addition to its famous ..."Gastronomic" know-how, Strasbourg Region Alsace, which was one of the few French Regions to have been fully and actively present in Shanghai's International Exhibition, with an independent, fully-equiped, High-Tech Ecological Building with an Original Architecture, back on 2010, (See relevant, Previous "EuroFora"s NewsReport :http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/shangai.html), has also various other interesting, potential sectors for Trade a.o. Economic  cooperation with China, including on "Smart", Energy-Efficient, Economic Buildings, ready to use at any season of the year, with a record-low Electric Power Consumption, (which have received a special EU Award), as well as BioTechnology, Materials, Equipment, etc., in addition, naturally, to the recently boosted, autonomous Strasbourg University's cooperation/exchanges/research potential, etc. Already, "there are more than 50.000 Chinese Students in France" in general, noted French President Hollande's Diplomatic Sherpa, Paul-Jean Ortiz, speaking earlier to "EuroFora" on the sidelines of the October 2012 EU Brussels' Summit ( http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/frenchpresidentsdipomaticadvisoronchina.html).

As the Chairman of "Alsace International", 1st Vice-President of Strasbourg's Region, André Reichardt has recently said to "EuroFora", Alsace was genuinly interested to keep its 2010 International Exhibition's High-Tech, Ecological Building at Shanghai also for the Future, but, for Economy and Efficiency reasons, finally, it was incited to re-schedule its plans towards the nearby Nankin Chinese Region, with which it already has a long History of a regular Cultural and Economic relationship, without excluding, however, the possibility of a new attempt to get a permanent establishment at Shanghai and/or Beijing, where, inter alia, even the World-famous "ACQUATIC SHOW" INTERNATIONAL Busines, active also in Russia's Saint Petersbourg, USA's Las Vegas, France's Paris, Germany's Berlin, Canada's Quebec, in Japan, etc., but Headquartered in Strasbourg, is well known, after having won an International Competition organized by the Chinese Government for the Opening Ceremony of the Shanghai 2010 Global Exhibition :

Pope Benedict XVI launched a call "in the name of the common Christian heritage" of "all Christians", to "immediately stop military actions", and "resolutely take, the road of negotiation and dialogue", with "Initiatives" for a "peaceful and sustainable solution" in South Ossetia.

It's with "profound anxiety" that we read "the news, more and more dramatic", on "these tragic events ..which have caused many innocent victims and obliged a great number of civilians to leave their homes". All involved must "avoid to cause more, and worse sufferings to the population", he said.

To avoid this risk, "the International Community and the most inffuent countries" should "make every effort to support and promote .. initiatives" for a stable Peace, he stressed, shortly before his visit to France, where President Nicolas Sarkozy is the current EU chair.

"Together with our Orthodox brothers, we pray for these aims, and we entrust them to the intercession of her sanctity, virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus and of all Christians", he concluded.
