French Local Election + Strasbourg: People vote 54% Majority for a Right ..of "Norwegian" style ?!

 

*Strasbourg/Alsace-lower Rhine Prefecture+City Hall/- In the 1st important Nation-wide Political Choice since the paradoxical 2012 result (See : ....), the vast Majority of French People voted anew, and even much more than before, at the first round of Local  Elections, for Parties located at the Right side of the Political Spectrum, which can easily mark a Big Win at the second and final round Next Week-End, 30 March 2014, if they Unite Together in a similar way as it was, meanwhile, done already at Norway, where a traditional Centre-Right Party found practical ways to form a solid Governing Coalition with a recently renovated former Rightist party, on the basis of certain jointly agreed Priorities respectful of Fundamental Principles,  adopting a Formula which was quasi-unanimously endorsed by the PanEuropean and even International Community since November 2013 without any problem whatever until Today.

This "Norwegian way" to succeed to "fish" and catch a new kind of Healthy and Strong, political "Salmon", inevitably appeared to many as an obvious Solution, according to the Democratic principle of rule by a Majority and not by a Minority, of People, also to the present situation here in Strasbourg, which voted for a Majority of the Right with 54% against 45% (See Infra) :  The City which hosts the PanEuropean CoE and EU Parliament's Plenary Sessions, as well as the European Court of Human Rights, EU Citizens' Defender (Ombudsperson), the "Shengen" System for EU-Citizens' Freedom of Movement and Security, European Radio-TV ARTE and EUROCORPS' army, etc. :

Final Results clearly show, indeed, that the traditional Center-Right list of "UMP/MoDem" parties, headed by Senator Fabienne Keller, former Mayor of Strasbourg (2001-2008), clearly won the 1st rank, with almost 33 % of the casted Votes, followed by the out-going "Socialist" Mayor, Senator Roland Ries as a Second, with nearly 31 %, and the recently renovated Rightist Party "FN"'s list, run by former Centrist politician Jean-Luc Schaffhauser, which unexpectedly succeeded to overcome the 10% Threshold with about 11% of Votes, becoming the 3rd and last party to be allowed to maintain its candidates also on the 2nd and Final Round of the 2014 Municipal Elections, and thus acquiring an obvious potential to contribute into Shaping their definitive outcome.

Among the other Parties, with a more or less important Number of Voters, which failed to cross that Threshhold, but could help form a Coalition, are the "Greens" of Jund (an outgoing ally of the Socialists) with 8,5%, almost equal to the Center-Right experienced former Minister Francois Loos' "UDI" (who is also President of Region Alsace's Economic Committee), also with some 8%, followed in a distance by the "Left" of Jean-Claude Val with almost 4 %. At least the 2 biggest among them are due to broker a Coalition deal with the 2 above-mentioned Frontrunners, (comp. Supra).

Finally, various Small, often "pittoresque" candidates didn't get more than something as low as between only 2 and 1 or 0,5%, such as Turkish lobbyist Saglamer (whose parents had tried to impose the Islamic Scurf in Schools by suing against the French Government's f. Miniter Bayrou, supported now by an eccentric USA businessman, who failed to sell to anyone else in the world an UFO-like project, ridiculizing public Transports), with about 2%; Centrist Ecologist Armand Tenesso (the only African-origin Top candidate, supported by "UDF", the party of former President Giscard d'Estaing and various Alsacian personalities) with more than 1%+; Pierrete Morinaud of "L.O." (Workers' Fight, party of famous and Popular former Presidential candidate Arlette Laguiller, Leftist), with less than 1%; and Elisabeth Del Grande of the "Independent Workers' Party" (POI), another Leftist (with several candidates from Other EU Countries, such as Germany, Poland, Italy, etc), with just 0,5 %.

=> Thus, in Conclusion, the Citizens of Strasbourg gave Today a crystal-clear Absolute Majority to the parties of the Right side of the political spectrum, which, taken all together, Total about 54% (UMP + FN + UDI + UDF : comp. supra), compared to a Minority for the outgoing Left, with only 45% of votes, (PS + Greens + 3 Left parties).

> But a crucial Question apparently remains still Open : 

- Will all Politicians succeed to form Coalitions in the forthcoming 2nd and final round, next Weekend, according to the Democratically expressed verdict of the People ? Or, perhaps, various Manipulations and/or Pressure might push at least some of them, on the contrary, to take a Heavy Responsibility into Dividing heir own camp, even to the point to Risk both Disrespecting People's verdict and Failing to seize a unique Chance ?

It's, indeed, notorious that the outgoing "Socialists" count mainly on provoking again a fatal Division between the traditional, mainstream Parties of the center-Right, (such as UMP, UDI, etc), and the recently renovated Rightist "FN" party, (which succeeded, for the 1st time, to pass to the 2nd round of the Electoral process by getting 11% of the votes : Comp. Supra), as the "Only Chance" for them (PSoc) to keep their comfortabe Chairs even with a Minority, only by pushing a big part of the opposed Majority of Citizens to abstain and  vote "Blanc", or, at least Disperse their Votes between 2 opposed Parties of a Divided Right, at the final round, next Sunday, (so that, in fact, a Minority would Rule, while the Majority would Suffer, precisely as it was obviously done since the 2012 controversial Presidential and Legislative French Elections : Comp. : ....)...

Will  frontrunner Keller (UMP) "buy" that kind of well known, old sly Trap, and condemn herself to Failure, while also betraying the votes of Strasbourg's People's Majority ?

 Initially, the expression that she adopted in her face showed rather Embarassment, if not Dismay, while hearing Rightists' views at a Strasbourg TV Debate, later Tonight.

But afterwards, she apparently changed attitude, once FN's Schaffhauser (in fact a notoriously former "Centrist") revealed that the only "Conditions" that he raises to a possible winning Coalition with UMP's Keller was to present "a Real Plan for Jobs", a "Reduction of Taxes", and a promise to "Stop Funding Communautarism" for too many big Islamic Mosquees which popped up recently in several hotspots accross the City, almost simultaneously with an astonishing Alteration of its native, long-time Population, many among traditional Strasbourg's Citizens being Pushed to Abandon their ancestral Family Homes and ..Flee elsewhere, at the same time that  a Systematic InFlow of Immigrants is led to Concentrate into certain areas, provoking Cultural "Ghettos", and an "AppartHeid"-like context, which inevitably Hinders even poor Immigrant Children from having any real Chance to Integrate an important European Host Country's Culture, often even its Language, etc., as several Conscious Immigrants have denounced themselves in France and elsewhere, echoed even by certain COE's Experts from Countries with a solid Experience in such matters as Denmark, etc. Something which obviously reminds controversial Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan's notorious provocative Claims against German Chancellor Angie Merkel (and/or former French President Sarkozy, after Chirac, since as early as 12/2005, etc), against efforts to really Integrate Turkish Immigrants in European Culture.... This notoriously threatening to result not only into a kind of "Remote Control" of such "Ghettos" by a Foreign Government, but also  into a kind of incredible but real "Ethnic Cleansing", even at the Heart of Europe, (as f.ex. "EuroFora"s co-Founder saw in several London's suburbs, where controversial and unpopular former "New Labour" Prime Minister Blair, had piled up many similar, almost identical Immigrants together, to the point that a visitor felt entering into .. Pakistan or Kenya each time he went out of a Subway station, during the 2005 Deadly Terrorist Bombings !.)...

Interestingly from a European point of view, Schaffhauser now Droped an Anti-EU like Condition that he had Earlier brandissed during the Electoral Campaign, thus obviously leaving to the Pro-EU Keller, Loos, etc. some more room for manoeuver... Moreover, on this point, he had already "Softened" in his campaign in Strasbourg, an earlier vocabulary initially opposed to EU Integration, by replacing it with a simple call "for a Europe of Peoples, against a Technocratic Europe .. of Oligarchs", that many would find comparatively Anodyne, or might even endorse...

However, at least in her immediate Reply, Keller, while naturally having something concrete to say on the 2 first Conditions about "Jobs"-creation and "Tax-reduction" (comp. Supra), that Schaffhauser ostensiby noted with obvious interest, spotted even by the TV screeing, nevertheless she curiously  stopped short from giving, at least now, any reply whatever, to his 3rd and last wish about "Stopping to Fund Communautarism", respecting France's "Culture" and "Identity", etc, (comp Supra).

This last, but obviously Delicate, as well as Important point, (both for Strasbourg, all France and the whole Europe, as the 2005 - 2009 political Debates and Events have already revealed in the recent Past, including the previous, May 2009 EU Parliament's Elections, etc), canNot be Neglected at all, as even Today's Electoral Results clearly indicate : Indeed, Rightist "National Front'"s impact accross the various Strasbourg's Quarters, is far Lesser at most of the Central areas of the City and in the "European" Quarter or Robertsau Suburb, where there are No "Ghetto"-like overConcentrations (Comp. Supra),  but rather a Cohesive, Proportional and Balanced Population, resulting in Below Average Results for "FN" ranging from 4,5% to 10% only , (with a Growing Peak, however, for Esplanade's Center-South area, particularly after an U-Turn of the current University's management from Quality Studies to Mass Imports of Numerous Students from anywhere in the World, with less attention to their Educational level and success, which recently provoked some local problems, f.ex. excessive Noise overNight, etc), staying close to its Average at the  Neuforf Suburb (11%), than, on the Contrary, in the Suburbs of HautePierre/Cronenbourg (where Schaffhauser has Denounced the fact that even an "Islamic Religious School" reportedly run by "Fundamentalists" is prepared,

while the Local Population was Radically Modified Recently, after Imposing to all Inhabitants even to Pay for receiving continuously ... 2 Turkish TV Channels by Cable !), Koenigshofen/Montagne Verte/Elsau, and Neuhof-Srockfeld (a notorious HQ of outgoing "Socialist" Mayor Ries' previous  Turkish City Officers, the most important one having been involved even in a Violent Incident of Brutal Attacks against a School Director), where "FN" .. Explodes clearly Over its average, up to 13 %, 16 %, even 18% !

Significantly, it's in these same Suburbs, where several "Desperate People" (as Keller recently put it) were led to seek refuge to "FN"'s Rightists, that notorious Turkish Lobbyist Saglamer scores his Highest Results, much above average...  

+ Worrying fact : As "EuroFora" and other observers found, most Wall Posters of nearly all Other Candidates - with the only Exception of that of Saglamer's  ! - had been  more or less Vandalized and some almost Destroyed : Even that of a Sympathetic African-origin Black colored Top Candidate, Armand Tenesso (supported by the "UDF" Party and some Alsacian personalities), whose Face had been almost systematically and Brutaly Disfigured by Vandals (f.ex. both at "HautePierre" Suburb, and even in front of Central "Town Hall", downtown !), revealing the Fact that the real Anti-Democratic "Racists" are, sometimes, certain aggressive Foreign Lobbies...

As for the idea that certain individuals (who have acknowledged their Failed attempts in the Past to opportunistically infiltrate "first the Socialist Party, afterwards the Liberals, and later the -Center/Right- UMP" !) search to impose on the Composition of the Population at Europe's Heart, it's enough to simply .. read the List of Candidates officially presented by Turkish Lobbyist Tuncer Saglamer (who, curiously, Hides his List from his own Website !). Indeed, here is the Quasi-Totality of that List, with the only exception of a few other names, among 65 in all : "1. Tuncer Saglamer, ...Mohammed Abarguiss, Imane Ettouji, Nesrin Tugral, .... Latifa El Jabli, Meryem Kodat, David Ay, Ahmed Raouah, Noëlle Yaba, Beytullah Koku, Mohammed El Hassani, Selma Yildirim,  Jamila Laamri, Seyyit Baloglu, Yasmina Saoula, Zeliha Durak, Chamece-Addine Arahouani, .....Humeyra Filiz, Mohamed Ida-Ali, Myriam Fallah, Omer Sahin, Djamila Boukada, Richard Hyani, Anissa El Idrissi, Mustafa Karakaya, Amale Bellaali, ...Halime Ugurlu, Mourad Khlifi, Samira El Bouchaouni, Udayasuriyan John Chrysostom, Serpil Kaya, Zekrriya Dursum, Souad Laamri, Laurent Hossann, Sanna El Hadouchi Taibi, Samir Ouchen, Fathia Abarguiss, Kadir Kaya, Nouzha Soussan, Onur Tamier, Linda Ramtani, Mustafa Turhan, Dikra El Hamdani, Onur Turk, Hiba Mechahougui, Kamar Boudhan, Meral Ozdemir, Redouane Majjad, Betul Ozkan, Abdelaziz Mansri-Eulmi, Gullu Gencturk, Karim Boulahtit".... That's obviously a recipe on how to provoke, not how to prevent "Ghettos" (Comp^. Supra) !....

Comparatively, that other List headed by UDF-supported, African origin Armand Tenesso, a Black Lawyer, (comp. Supra), looks much Better, since it's obviously composed by Persons of really Many and Various Cultures and Origins, (not only 1, contrary to Saglamer's almost entirely Turko-Islamist list : See Facts supra), including a Big Number of traditional Alsacian origin People (in fact : the Majority in Tenesso's list) who apparenty entrusted him and his friends. Is this really "Pluralistic origin" list's virtue, for the 1st time headed by an African origin Black-colored Candidate, a Lawyer at Strasbourg's bar, (whose political credo one might share or not at all, in a Democratic debate), which might have been the real reason behind all those apparently Racist Aggressions which systematically targetted and disfigured the Image of his face in many Wall Posters around Strasbourg, (while, curiously, at the same time, leaving exceptionaly 100% intact only that of Saglamer's list, almost entirely limited in a Tiny Turkish lobby alone : See Facts Supra) ?

In view of such Facts, (and taking also into account Saglamers' infamous previously failed attempt to .. Sue the French State, as early as since the 1990ies, when Centrist "MoDem" party's Leader Bayrou was serving as Minister of Education, seeking to ...impose the Islamic Scarf even inside Schools and Public Administrations), it becomes obvious that, if Keller really wants for Strasbourg a Future without Ethnic Tensions' "AppartHeid" and other Cultural "Ghettos" (comp. Supra), she would be well advised to carefully consider the call launched by the 3rd Succesful Candidate who managed top attract sufficient Popular Support in order to cross the Electoral Threshold allowing him to actively participate in the 2nd round of 2014's Election of new Mayors, former Centrist politician Schaffhauser, to "Stop Funding Communautarism", (comp. Supra), a point which, naturally; is inevitably raised, since the 1999-2005 controversial and Unpopular decision to start EU - Turkey Negotiations in the framework of a possible EU's Enlargement until Iraq, Syria's and Iran's borders, deep in central Asia, (which notoriously triggered 3 "No" to EuroReferenda in France, the Netherlands and Ireland, in addition to an Unprecedented Majority Abstention in EU Parliament's Elections, precisely since 1999-2004+), also vis a vis what EU Citizens' wish could be for Europe's Future...

At any case, meanwhile, at least one thing is already certain, given Today's results at the beginning of 2014 French Local Elections :

 - Voting went perfectly well at the Tiny but greatly Symbolic ...Blaesheim, a beautiful Small Village near Strasbourg's Airport,  which has traditionally become the Emblema of EU's Franco-German core's Heads of State/Government Summits, already since former French President Jacques Chirac and f. German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's 2001 gathering there (See "EuroFora" co-Founder's NewsReport then to "TCW" a.o. Media, from the spot, then), after an initial meeting between former French President Valery Giscard d'Estaing and f. German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt as early as on 1977, until the present period, for Regular, unofficial Franco-German Summits each 6 Months, (usually together with their Foreign Ministers) known as "Blaesheim format" Top Political encounters generaly focused on European/International policy Topical issues :

>>> From a European Democracy viewpoint, and  regarding particularly the forthcoming EU Parliament's May 2014 Elections, the most Important is not so much that Blaesheim's Mayor Jacques Baur was brillantly re-elected with more than 60% of the Votes from the 1st round Today, but mainly the Fact that EU Citizens' Electoral Participation was there Exceptionaly Higher than in most Other areas : While Abstention in down-town Strasbourg fell to a Dangerous Low of 49%, a Majority of Citizens prefering to Abstain this time from Voting, on the Contrary, at EU core's Symbolic nearby Village of Blaesheim, at Strasbourg's outskirts, (facing the regional Airport of Entzheim), a crystal-clear, Absolute Majority of EU Citizens, as big as more than 75,5%, took, indeed, actively part to the Vote !

Blaesheim's Symbol wasn't chosen for nothing : The pittoresque Green Village's over-Millenary Big "Gloeckelsberg" Tower, last remnant of a 9th Century Christian Church, at the Top of a beautiful Hill 200 m. High, is Strasbourg Urban Community's (CUS) Highest point.

 From there, Publisher Philip von Zabern ("de Saverne") launched since 1797-1802 what became later a Leading European and International enterprise which still actively publishes Quality Books and Reviews on Science and History of Europe and the World until Today, now Headquartered at nearby Darmstadt : the HQ of European Space Agency's operational Center.... Integral Part of a collective European "Identity" through Centuries and even Millenaries that real EU Citizens would, indeed, like to safeguard and  further develop.

+ As for another Historic European Symbol at Strasbourg's area : OberHausbergen, i.e. there where former CoE Assembly's and EU Parliament's President, f. French Prime Minister and long-time Strasbourg's Mayor Pierre Pflimlin, (a key ally of De Gaulle, architect of the Franco-German reconciliation together with f. Chancellor Adenauer since the 1960ies), reportedly dreamt to build a New "European Quarter", both for the COE and the EU, etc., at the Hights of an Historic Castle with a superbe view towards the Vosges' Mountains, a New Mayor : Théo Klempp, has just been thriomphally elected Today with almost 59 % of the Votes, and an Exceptionally High EU Citizens' Participation up to more than 61 %, by focusing mainly on the need to Safeguard the area's superbe Green "Nature at our City's Heart", and work together with Neighbouring Local Authorities "to preserve the Green Lungs"' Oxygen Breathing area of the community.

I.e., exactly, by another positive coincidence, what both the Frontrunner Strasbourg's candidate Mayor for the New period of 2014-2020, Senator Fabienne Keller (UMP) and particularly, even more her Natural Ally, former Minister and President of France's National Agency for the protection of the Environment, Francois Loos (UDI), of the Center Right, have both stressed throughout all this Electoral Campaign, as part of their Criticism against an Asphyxiating extension of Concrete, Parkings and Walls by their "Socialist" competitor, the Outgoing Mayor Roland Ries (PS : paradoxicaly Ally of a so-called "Green" Party candidate Alain Jund : comp. Supra), whose local representatives have demonstrated, particularly between 2012 and 2014, a Strange Harassment against ANY Tree,

even at rare Natural beauty spots; sometimes with landmark Landscape Views, (f.ex. at a unique Hill-Top with an Artificial Bridge surrounded by a small beautiful Forest with many Trees of some 30 or 40 Years old at the Heart of Popular Suburbs as OberHausbergen's Neighbour HautePierre,

where ALL Trees were Systematically CUT Down, and the Hill Destroyed, by a lot of huge Buldozers, despite a Petition signed by a Majority of Inhabitants and Published at the Web as well as by the local Newspaper, Demonstrations even of Children trying to defend their unique "Green" area with its Characteristic HillTop giving a superb view at the Horizon and Sunsets, in front of many Family Homes deprived of any other space with free access to Nature close to them,

now Condemned to stay closed amidst a surrounding Zungle of Ugly Concrete, a multiplication of Polluting and Noisy, heavy Car Traffic, Today scandalously  Transiting through formely "Green" pedestrial areas among a dense Family Habitat, etc),

Protection of a Natural and Healthy Environment having recently become a notoriously Topical and  Popular issue also at a European-wide level, and one of Strasbourg's traditionaly most Attractive points compared f.ex. to Old Capital Cities as Brussels, etc, Keller's and Loos' New Input also on specifically European developments for which the choices made in a given Territory can have a relevant Importance, focused during this 2014 Electoral Campaign for the French Local Elections, into trying to Add some New Ideas about f.ex. systematically organizing Public Forums linked to EU Parliament's Plenary Sessions each Month in Strasbourg, (as "EuroFora"/EIW projects advocate already since 1997-2007 until now : See relevant 2013-2014 publications), as well as to contribute into stimulating much more Franco-German Integration at EU's core and €uroZone's Heads of State/Governments' Summits, in addition to €uroArea's MEPs' meetings  here, etc., in an effort to compensate Ries' reportedly "too calm" stance in this matter, (even if he wouldn't disagree, particularly with the idea to help develop €uroArea's Parliamentary activities here), which has been recently Criticized even for allowing a UK-inspired so-called "Brussels" lobby to Dissuade many MEPs from liking to live and work  in Strasbourg efficiently at least 1 Week per Month, as a recent Vote in the out-going EU Parliament indicated.

In this regard, help boost a more EU-Citizens' friendly, Popular approach particularly in relation to EU Parliament's Plenary Sessions in Strasbourg, wouldn't normally be disliked even by Schaffhauser, the former Centrist Politician suprisingly turned now Candidate of the recently renovated Rightist "FN" for Strasbourg's New Mayor to the period of 2014-2020, given particularly his explicit preference "for a Europe of Peoples" and "not Technocrats" only, as he repeatedly stressed (Comp. Supra).

=> So that, to put it in a nutshell, even if Norwegian Vikings' Historic Ship travels also through main European Rivers, didn't managed to extend ... Salmons as far as Strasbourg's Franco-German Rhine river, obviously leaving here a Difficulty into eventually ... trying to "go FISHING Norwegian Salmon" around Strasbourg, as we saw Supra,

nevertheless, all sincerely interested Politicians can always, at least, ... EAT imported Norwegian Salmon : It really looks Excellent for Physical and Political Health and Shape, nowadays, particularly if it's served with a fresh,"Green" Salad (comp. Supra) ! It's so Natural that, in Politics as well as for a Healthy Environment, as it's well known, nobody can always say "Never" to such a nice dish....
