*Brussels/EU Summit/Angelo Marcopolo/- In Exclusive Statemens to "Eurofora" on the sidelines of his Press Conference at EU Heads of State/Governments' Summit in Brussels, New EU Parliament's President David Sassoli from Italy, Urged for "Strong (EU) Citizens' Voices" !

He had just presented to -and Discussed with-  the Summit the Outcome of EU Parliament's Constitutional Committee's Votes on MEPs' Amendments, Earlier this Week in Brussels, to a Draft Resolution on how to Shape concretely the forthcoming Conference for Europe's Future.

- But "Eurofora" had noticed that the Initial Landmark References to EU Citizens' input had, apparently, paled away, almost vanished, or were, comparatively, marginalized in the Latest relevant Official Documents...

+Therefore, we also asked French President Emmauel Macron's Counselor on European affairs, Clement Beaune, whether Macron really persisted in his Original Ambitious Vision, (Highlighted initialy at his landmark Speech at Acropolis' Historic Pnyx Rock, back on September 2017), or had, eventually, marked any relevant Last-Minute Change, perhaps towards relativizing it, in one way or another.

Beaune's immediate reaction to "Eurofora"s query was to Stress that Macron maintained his Original Vision and proposals, without any doubt.

=> Therefore, President Sassoli's Reply to our above-mentioned Question, by ricochet, gets another, even more Topical Meaning :

- "We (EU) Need Strong Citizens' Voices, in order to Hear what they have to Say !", told "Eurofora" the President of EU Parliament, (who has worked also as a Journalist himself, for a Long Time), Smiling...

>>> In other words, it's up to EU Citizens to Strive to really Earn and deserve their place inside the EU Decision-Making process for the foreseable Future !...:

In EU Summit's Conclusions, published later today, EU Heads of States/Governments, after having discussed this issue with EU Parliament's President Sassoli from the Beginning of their Brussels' meeting of this December 2019, decided to "Define a Council Position", not only "on the Content" and "Scope", but also on the "Composition and Functioning" of "a Conference on the Future of Europe", which "should contribute to the Development of our (EU) Policies in the Medium and Long Term, so that we can Better Tackle current and future Challenges".

- It  "should Build on the succesful holding on Citizens' Dialogue, over the Past 2 Years (2018+  See, f.ex., inter alia, also "Eurofora"s NewsReports from the Inauguration of EU Citizens' Consultations by Frech President Macron at nearby Vosges Mountains, etc., at : ..., ..., etc), "and Foresee Broad Consultation of Citizens, in the course of the Process", for which there is a wider "Need to be Inclusive", this Brussels' EU Summit officially "underlined" further on.

Popular : EuroCorps' chief, General Pittarch, and Strasbourg's Mayor Ries, speak to the People, downtown.

* EuroCorps, EU defence's etat major, which has just celebrated 15 years of age (1993 - 2008), is young enough to feel enthousiasm for missions to guarantee Human Rights, Peace and reconcilation : Strasbourg's Historic Symbols, but also maturing fast, (particularly under the current French EU Presidency), in order to prepare potentialy important developments in 2009 :

- "EUROCORPS" is a "unique tool" for "a Modern Europe", jointly managed by participating Nations without anyone deciding for others", to "support their efforts to promote Reconciliation, Peace and Human Rights' Values, which identify today's European ideal, with its Symbol-City : Strasbourg", stressed its Chief, Spanish General Pedro PITARCH, in a popular ceremony for the 15th Anniversary of the European Army Corps, at its Headquarters.

- "Today, we are ready and able to fullfil any Peace-keeping Mission may be decided by the Political leadership, since we can deploy up to 60.000 soldiers and/or other agents, mainly in land, but in coordination with Sea and Air operarions", (even to build vital Infrastructures, demining, keep public order, facilitate Elections, etc), said to EuroFora EUROCORPS' Spokesman and Press Director, Colonel Raul SUEVOS.

- "If there is an Agreement with the framework Nations, EUROCORPS could certainly contribute to guarantee manifold aspects of Peace setllements", told us recently General PITARCH.

---

EU Parliament asked, Summer 2008 in Strasbourg, " to place Eurocorps as a standing force under EU command", and "invited all (EU) Member States to contribute to it".

France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Luxembourg (participating with Funds, Telecoms and Officers), are EUROCORPS"' main "Framework Nations", due to be joined by Italy in 2009. Greece and Austria participate as "Contributing Nations", while Poland decided to upgrade its role. Turkey has liaison Officers for NATO relations, and even USA decided to send Officers to Strasbourg on 2009.

Observers await with impatience also the outcome of NATO's April 2009 Summit in Strasbourg in order to have a better view of EuroCorps' future.

Since modern Defence must be able to use all Arms nowadays, EuroCorps tried to charm Strasbourg's People with Music accross popular streets...

Polls

2009 EU Elections were won by Parties against Technocracy and Turkey's controversial EU bid, while the 1999-2004 Majority Abstention trend decelerated. What should be done in 2009-2014 ?
