MEP Sander+Region V.President Schalck to EF: Concertation+Visitors+Press'Mix = Boost to EUParliament

*Strasbourg/Angelo Marcopolo/- Giving a Fresh "New Look" to a Basic Idea in "Eurofora"s 1997-2017 Wider Project, MEP Anne Sander and Strasbourg's "Great East" Region's vice-President, Elsa Schalck, agreed Today with us, in substance, that an adequate Combined use of EU Citizens' Concertation, together with a Brand New Form of EU Parliament's "Visitors" mechanism, efficiently associated with the Médias, might provide a Timely Boost to all MEPs' Debates, Votes, and other Parliamentary Work's visibility, notoriously Needed in order to Tackle ambient Euro-Scepticism, particularly in the run up to the forthcoming EU Elections of May 2019, of Crucial importance for Europe's Future.

The move came on the occasion of a Public Debate on Strasbourg's potential Contribution to the European Integration nowadays, organized by Elsa Schalck, who is, currently, also a Candidate at the imminent French Legislative Elections of June 11 and 18, 2017, for the National Assembly in Paris, to which participated also a Leader of the "Young Europeans" Movement, Jerome Quere, in the framework of that New series of Collective Events, established by Elsa each Tuesday Afternoon, symbolicaly nick-named "the Tuesdays of the Future", and Voluntaristicaly placed under Famous Writer Francois Blondel's moto : "It's not about Predicting the Future, but about Preparing it"....

 

Young Lawyer Elsa Schalck, (a Rising Star in France's mainstream Opposition "Republican" Party of the Center-Right ChristianDemocrats/EPP), at first reminded her Interesting initial Promise, (that she had presented just a Month ago, at the Inauguration of her Team's Office, located between Strasbourg's Historic Cathedral, and Gutemberg's statute), to Systematicaly Consult the concerned Citizens before deciding how to Vote and/or Table Amendments, Speak, etc, on any New Legislative Bill due to be soon adopted by the Parliament, if she is elected there. (I.e. something at least partly moving along "Eurofora"s wider project, about MEPs' Public Debates with concerned Citizens just before EU Parliament's Final Decisions, and due to Start really Applying that, at First on the level of France's National Assembly).

But, Questioned by "Eurofora" if she found that a Similar Practice would be Good also in view of EU Parliament's own Debates and Votes, (which often touch upon the Same Topical Issues as those of EU Member's National Assemblies, f.ex. on Mass Migration, Islamist Terrorism, European Security and Defense, Protection of EU's External Borders, Economic Growth and Employment, Education and Innovation, etc), Elsa, smiling, appeared naturaly and clearly Positive for that, (just after having observed, by the way, the relevant Fact that, as a matter of Principle, all Strasbourg's MPs automaticaly get, in Paris, a seat at the National Assembly's influent Committee for European issues).

+ In parallel, MEP Ann Sanders, who had just Noted also the Fact that EU Parliament's Vistors are usually much "More Numerous" in Strasbourg, as she said, also reacted Positively, (after giving a Brief but Careful Thinking), to the Idea -advanced by "Eurofora"- that an adequately organized, Massive Welcome of even a Bigger Number of EU Citizens as Visitors to EU Parliament, not only passively, but offering them, for the 1st Time, also a possibility to play an "Active" role, in Concertation with Key MEPs, in order to Debate the most Important "Hot" Points in the Draft Bills that will be officialy Discussed and Voted by MEPs later-on that same week, during EU Parliament's Plenary Sessions here.

Obviously, If such kind of moves were systematicaly and adequately organized, in an Imaginative and Efficient way, Finding practical ways to include or associate all those EU Citizens who feel Concerned by imminent EU Decisions debated and voted by the European Parliament, then, this could also Help overcome the notorious Problem of a so-called "Indiference" or "Lack of sufficient Interest" by Mainsream Press in EU Paliament's main activities, (which was strongly Reminded Today, f.ex., by the Head of the European Movement's Youth, young Jerome Quere, who naturaly Deplored such an abnormal Problem), since it would be able to Generate a lot of various and Interesting "News", precisely during such interactions between the Competent MEPs and concerned EU Citizens, on imminent EU Decisions due to Affect their Lives and Society as a whole.

On this occasion, "Eurofora"'s 24 Years-Long (and particularly "Dense") Experience on EU/CoE Press News, incited us to be Ready and Willing to clearly Dissipate also anOther, too often repeated Pretext for a so-called "Indifference" of the Médias to European Issues in general, (as, f.ex., Quere deplored, partialy joined also by Sanders, etc), by Observing that, often such a Problem does Not realy Exist, and, that, on the Contrary, Both the People at large, most Médias and Journalists themselves, are Eager to Find and use Interesting and Topical EU/CoE News, but, scandalously, several Times, they are Hindered, in fact, from doing so, by various Counter-Productive and/or Bureaucratic, if not Nepotist Obstacles, (sometimes pushed by real Counter-European Lobbies, hidden under fallacious, hypocritical Masks, abusing of any void Pretext), which Must be urgently Overcome !

But, apparently, the vivid Interest also of Many Other Participants to this European Debate, (and/or, perhaps, a few covertly Anti-European elements, who might have, eventualy, interfered just in order to waste the few Time still available), did Not leave us enough productive Time for that purpose Now... So, RDV taken for a Next round !
