EU Council Top Official: Turkey's demand for "2 States" in Cyprus is "No Option" for Europe

*Strasbourg/Angelo Marcopolo/- Speaking to "Eurofora" and Other Journalists Invited to participate in an EU Video-Press Briefing, at the Eve of a Crucial EU Heads of State/Government Summit in Brussels, due to Decide Tomorrow on Turkey's overall position vis a vis the EU, a Top Official of EU Council, sharply but clearly, Rejected the latest Turkish provocative Demand, which Notoriously Blocked the UN-sponsored Talks for a Solution of the Cyprus' Issue in Geneva at the End of last April 2021, to practicaly Throw Away Many UN Sccurity Council Resolutions, by Accepting, instead of a Peaceful ReUnification of the Island, (as they Repeatedly Asked), on the Contrary, a Partition of it, (See, f.ex.: http://www.eurofora.net/newsflashes/news/turkishsecessionismoncyprusblocksun.html, etc).

- "On Cyprus, a 2 States solution is Not an Option, for us !", clearly stressed that EU Council's Top Official Today, (speaking on condition of Anonymity, as it's usual in this kind of "Off the Record Press Briefings").

His Statement came just a few Hours Before UNO's Secretary General, Antonio Guterrez, Flies to Brussels, where he is Scheduled to Meet and Discuss with the EU Leaders at that Summit, Tomorrow, after 1p.m., "during 2 Hours", Both about "Global Challenges", and on "GeoPolitical Issues".

This Two Days-Long (24-25 June 2021) Top Meeting is due to Deal, from its 1st Evening's Working Diner, Also with 5 "Foreign Policy Issues" : "Turkey, Russia, Bielorussia, Ethiopia and Libya", added anOther Experienced EU Council's Senior Official, indicating that the obviously interrelated Cyprus' Issue would be included at the Top of the List.

That matter has a Particular Importance for the EU, Inter alia, also since it has Succesfully Avoided any Violent Conflict between its Member States, who live in Peace during some 71 Years, also Because their Borders Remained Stable all this Time, while, on the Contrary, Turkey pushes now openly for a ...Secessionist move in EU Member Cyprus, which would inevitably create Trouble inside Europe, even for various other European Countries too !

Meanwhile, Nevertheless, Various Other Rumours, Leakages, Hypothesis, etc, (particularly concerning EU Commission's Side), had Circulated around that, Earlier, as it often happens in that kind of matters.
