Watch LIVE CoE debate on Media Freedom at the Internet (part A) !

On the occasion of CoE's PanEuropean Parliamentary Assembly's debate and vote on its 2012 Report on "the Protection of Freedom of Expression and Information on the Internet and OnLine Media", drafted by Armenian MEP Ms Zaruhi Postaniyan, 

=> the Brittish rotating Presidency of the CoE (November 2011 - May 2012) co-organizes, together with "Index on Censorship" (London) a Round Table on "Media Freedom on the Internet", at PACE's Committee on Culture, Education, Science and Media, tomorrow, Wednesday, Aprilk 25, in Strasbourg, with the participation also of :

- Ambassador Eleanor Fuller, UK's Permanent Representative to the CoE, 

- Kirsty Hughes, Chief Executive officer, Index on Censorship, (London), 

- Bill Echikson, Head of "Free Expression", Google - Europe, 

- Simon Milner, Policy Director, Facebook, UK, 

- Felix Treguer, Legal and Institutional affairs' Director, La Quadrature du Net, (Paris). 

 

The initially anounced participations by MP¨Birgitte Jonsdottir, Spokeswoman for "Iceland's Modern Media Initiative", (See Innterview she gave previously to "EuroFora"), and Katiza Rodriguez from the Electronic Frontier Foundation (San Francisco), were cancelled at the last minute, reportedly for various practical reasons.

 + The subsequent, CoE's PanEuropean Parliamentary Assembly's plenary Debate, between MEPs, and final Votes on Ms Postaniyan's Report and draft Resolution (comp. Supra), is scheduled for later the same day, between 4.30 and 8 p.m.
