*Strasbourg/EU Parliament/Angelo Marcopolo/- Speaking to "Eurofora" from 2 clearly Opposed Viewpoints on BREXIT, EU Parliament's vice-President Rainer Wiener, a prominent Christian-Democrat from nearby Germany, and EFDD Group's Chairman Nigel Farage, a UKIP Leader from the UK, appeared set to clearly Prefer that the UK Government's Decision on Triggering the Article 50 (of Lisbon EU Treaty) Procedure would be Taken well Before the forthcoming French Elections of April 2017.

That concrete Point unexpectedly became a "Hot" Issue, when British Prime Minister Theresa May, who had initialy Foreseen to Start that Legal Procedure on March 2017, and had just Prepared things for that, Suddenly made an U-Turn, Today, reportedly Due also to Scotland's NP party's critical stance.

  - Wieland, speaking Earlier to "Eurofora", stressed from the outset :  - "I think that we (EU) should Proceed very Solidly.

 - "The Next Step will be the Question whether and when the UK is going" out of the EU, he observed.

  - In that regard, "there will be a Letter confirming the (procedure of) Article 50 for the United Kingdom".

- "And we (EU 27) have to be very Clear : It's Not a "Punishment" of the UK. It's a Question whether Europe is a Cherry-Cake, where everybody can Pick up what he wants". "In this, will, obviously, show Clearly that we are very Solid", he advised.

- Nowadays, "by the way, what Happens in the UK shows that it's Not a Fairy Tale, and reminds us what will be the case If the UK Leaves the EU", he Warned.

- Meanwhile, "We always Hope" to "have enough Time" for that, as well as Other Important Political RDVs, in the foreseable Road Ahead for Europe's Future, President Wieland pointed out, in Conclusion, reiterating a preference for an early enough triggering of the BREXIT Legal Process, so that Uncertainties don't Waste too much Time, (probably in view, also, of the forthcoming, May 2019 EU Parament's next Elections).

+ Even more Important : - "Then, I think, this (i.e. the above-mentioned UK-BREXIT related Developments : Comp. SUpra), will also Influence the Elections in France !", Wieland added, referring to the forthcoming, April/May 2017 French Presidential Elections. I.e. something which, in order to work, obviously requires an Early enough Trigerring of the Article 50 procedure by the UK Government, initialy promissed by British Prime Minister Theresa May for this Month of March 2017, (Comp. Supra),

Farage, almost met, in practice, Wieland's assessment on BREXIT's Timing :

 efdd_president_farage_to_eurofora_400

    - As things stand Now, - "I think that the Big Debate (of Wednesday, March 15) "will be withOut BREXIT". In fact, "BREXIT is going to be Barely Mentionedn Tomorrow", Farage regretted, as far as a forthcoming MEP's main Topical Debate about EU's Future is concerned, as can be Highlighted by the Latest EU Summit in Brussels, Last Week (9 - 10/3/2017), and the Forthcoming EU Summit for the 60th Anniversary of Rome Treaties, Next Week in Italy, (25/3/2017).

=> - That's "Because We (the UK) will Wait until the 4rth of April" 2017, i.e. the Next EU Parliament's Plenary Session in Strasbourg, (which, by a Coincidence, is also Just 1 Day After Nigel Farage's own, personal BirthDay : April 3)..

    - Indeed, "on the 4rth of April, We (EU Parliament) will have the Big "BREXIT" Debate", he pointed out, in a quite Affirmative way.

    - Since, Meanwhile, "the Article 50" Procedure "will have been Triggered", and "the Parliament will have a Resolution to Vote on", Farage further foresaw.

    - "So, Tomorrow it's Not a BREXIT Debate", Contrary to what many had Initialy Expected, up to the Last Minute, (as, f.ex., inter alia, t's revealed also by EU Parliament's earlier anounced Readiness to eventualy Change its Agenda, even at the Last Minute, If the UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, would Decide to trigger the Article 50 procedure this Week).

    - "But, are you Sure about that April Rendez-Vous ? Or, Anything may Happen ?", asked "Eurofora".

    - "It will better be !...", "I'm Sure about that",  Replied with a Bitter Smile, Chairman Farage, clearly Warning that, Otherwise, i.e. in case of any Further Delay to timely Trigger the Article 50 Procedure for BREXIT, there would be a Strong InFight inside the UK...

In Other Words, Both those Diametricaly Opposed, Key MEPs, even without explicitly saying so, (and, obviously for Differend Reasons each one of them), seem to Want to Avoid an even Longer Delay and Uncertainty about UK's position vis a vis the EU, Urging for a prompt Clarification now, Before the French Presidential Elections start on April 23.

--------------------------

EU Parliament's vice-President Wieland, a Long-Time mainstream MEP from Nearby Baden-Wurtemberg, is also President of the "Federalist" Citizen's Movement "Europa Union" in Germany, since 2011, where he succeeded eminent European Politicians, such as former EU Parliament's President Hans Gert Poettering, (currently "Adenauer Foundation"'s President), Elmar Brok, (Experienced Top MEP and Long-Time former President of EU Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, recently EU co-Rapporteur on the Future of Europe), and Peter Altmeier (MP and Top Counselor of Chancelor Angie Merkel).

EFFDD Group of MEP's Chairman, Farage, a Key "Euro-Sceptic" Leader of the pro-BREXIT Movement in the UK, Long-Time Head of the UKIP party, supported New US President Don Trump's Electoral Campaign, Recently Works also for North American "Fox-News" Media, as well as with UK's "LBC" Radio, (to which he was Broadcasting every Evening", as an EU Parliament's Radio-TV Technician told "Eurofora" this week, probably given, precisely, also the reNewed Topicality of the "BREXIT" issue nowdays).

Paradoxicaly, these, otherwise, Diametricaly Opposed, Key MEPs, Both Claim, however, to give a particular importance to the potential Role of Citizens.

"Eurofora" Project's, clearly declared, initial main Aim, from the Start, was to try to progressively build a Political Forum on Topical Issues affecting European People's Lives, where Diverse Viewpoints would Present their Opposed Arguments, as a Part of a much Needed "European Space for Public Debate" throughout all EU/CoE Countries united together, and well beyond.

(NDLR : President Wieland, and Chairman Farage's above mentioned declarations to "Eurofora", were made at Different Moments, but at the Same Place : EU Parliament in Strasbourg, and on the Same Issue : BREXIT, which notoriously Became Anew Topical this week, Given, particularly, several Recent, still-on going Developmenrts inside the UK, etc).

In a last-minute, surprise move, New EU Chairman, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, anounced a proposal in Strasbourg to open an EU Parliament debate on Europe's Identity in the ranup to 2009 Election :

    - "I am conscious of the fact that there is, today, a real Crisis on Europe's
Identity", he replied earlier to a question by Greek MEP Ioanis Varvitsiotes, who had asked him to "advance beyond those who don't really want a Political Europe",

    - "Why not a real Debate on what is Europe's Identity ?", proposed
Sarkozy, in this regard.

    -  "EU Parliament could organize such Debates", he suggested :"It's
better for EU Parliament, than for National Governments, or EU Commission, to
define what is the European Identity", the French President proposed.

A diplomatic way to avoid obstacles by some Governments and/or some Brussels' bureacrats, reportedly opposed to really free and popular, critical European debates on hot political issues..

Sarkozy brillantly won the 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in France in 2007, in the line of the principles anounced at an important Speech in Strasbourg, February 2007, about a Political Europe, and a European Identity on issues which matter to the People.

Polls

2009 EU Elections were won by Parties against Technocracy and Turkey's controversial EU bid, while the 1999-2004 Majority Abstention trend decelerated. What should be done in 2009-2014 ?
