Austrian People Vote 66% for the Right, 32% for the Left, in crucial Presidential Election

*Strasbourg/Angelo Marcopolo/- In a Surprise move, which Belied all Polls, a crystal-clear 2/3 Majority of Austrian People Voted for the Right side of the Political Spectrum in the 1st Round of a Crucial Presidential Election, Today :

Rightist "Freedom Party"'s candidate, Norbert HOFER, succeeded to arrive 1st, with about 36% of the Votes, followed in a Distance by the "Green" Party's Alexander VAN DER BELLEN, with 21%, and Independent candidate Imgard GRISS, with 19%, leaving Far Behind them, the Traditional Parties of the Governing Coalition between SPO's Socialists (Rudolf HUNDSTORFER : 11%) and OVP's ChristianDemocrats/EPP (Andreas KHOL : 11%), added to a Businessman, Richard Lugner, who failed to get more than around 2%.

=> This gives a Total of about 66% Majority to the Right side of the Political Spectrum, (FPO + OVP + Griss), and only a Minority of around 32% to its Left side, (SPO + Greens, See relevant Graphic).

Indeed, atypical Independent Candidate Griss  had reportedly approached the FPO's Rightists when she was initially exploring possible supporters, and was later-on financialy supported by several former ChristianDemocrats/EPP Politicians, while Experts situate her at the "Right of the Center", according to Wikipedia (German edition). And she Criticized a lot the Socialist Prime Minister's initial Policy vis a vis the Massive wave of Asylum Seekers/Migrants comming through Turkey.

Participation was Strong, with 68,5% of Registered Voters, given also the Exceptional Importane of these, 2016 Presidential Elections in Austria, particularly since the FPO's Candidate, Hofer, had declared his Intention to get actively involved in the Policies implemented by the Government, (mainly on the Migrants' Crisis, on the TTIP, etc), warning that, if they didn't make the necessary Changes, he would use the President's Right to Dissolve the current Parliament for Early Elections now (2016), before the scheduled term of 2018. As for the "Green"/Independent candidate Van Der Bellen, he had reportedly warned that he wiould strive to strip from its nomination rights as Chancelor, any FP0's Rightist, even if he, eventualy, Won the subsequent Parliamentary Elections. 

All Polls and Estimations previously published by Mainstream Media, (which routinely predicted a very Comfortable 1st Place to Van Der Bellen, (the "independent" Candidate from the"Greens"), were Astonishingly proven False, by the Final Results of this Crucial 1st Round of Votes for the New Austrian President, who will succeed to the out-going, Twice Elected President, Heinz Fischer, from Next July 2016.

But, meanwhile, several things may happen during the run up to the 2nd Round of the Austrian Presidential Elections, which is scheduled for May 22, (i.e. almost a Month Later-on), amidst a Wider Interest from various European, and even American, a.o. Observers, (as, both GeoPolitics and a lot of comments at the Internnet, clearly indicate).

Among the 2 Frontrunners allowed to participate at that 2nd Round, Van Der Bellen (Greens), the Favorite of the Establishment, that all Polls of Traditional Media showed at the 1st place, in fact, Fell Down at a Distant 2nd place, with only 21%, instead of 30% or 29% promised by Failed Polls, and he might Win at the End only if he Diabolized, Demonized and Isolated his Rightist FPO Competitor. On the Contrary, the crystal-clear Winner of the 1st Round, Hofer (FPO), who surprized by Succeeding to attract + 13 - 14% More Votes than the mere "21% or 22%" that Polls predicted : i.e. 36 %, could be Elected as Austria's New President at the 2nd Round if he managed to Unite Together all -or, at least, most- of the 66% Strong Majority of the Right side of the Political Spectrum, (Comp. Supra).

In both cases, it remains to be seen how the Will of the Austrian People will be respected, or betrayed, by the Country's Political System.

Perhaps Ingmar Griss, a former Supreme Court Chairwoman, might have been a "Softer" Solution, than the Sharp Political Contrast Opposing the 2 Frontrunner Candidates (Comp. Supra), even if it's not sure that this might have pleased the Majority of Voters, while Accountants working OverNight Deprived her of that 1% (One per Cent) more that she needed in order to participate at the 2nd Round.

For the rest, Paradoxicaly, at the "Left" side of the Political Spectrum, the "Independent" candidate from the "Greens", Alexander Van Der Bellen, a former Socialist (SPO) and Father of 2 Children from his 1st Mariage, stems from a Dutch origin Family which Fled Bolshevik Revolution in Russia back on 1917, and seems closer to theoretical Economy, his speciality as former Universitarian.

While the "Rightist" Norbert Hofer, a former Aviation Technology Engineer, and currently President of the Parliament of Austria (the Powerful "National Council"), a Father of 4 Children, former FPO Spokesman for People with Disabilities, (from which he suffered also himself personaly after an accident, obliged to use a cane to walk, until now), appears also Familiar with Nature/Ecology and Renewable Energy Modern Technologies, both as former Long-time FPO Spokesman on Environment and Energy (2006 - 2015), as well as a current Member of the Board of "Euro-Solar".

As for the Fact that Hofer's Voters succeeded to be the No 1 Biggest Group in All Federated States/Regions of Austria, except from that of its Administrative Capital City Wien, where Van Der Bellen's Voters exceptionaly seized the 1st place, shouldn't be erroneously Overestimated : F.ex., recently, during the still on-going GOP Primary Votes for the Nomination to the forthcoming US Presidential Election, neither the Frontrunner, Donald Trump, nor the No 2, Ted Cruz, didn't manage to get not even one (1) Representative Elected for them in the Capital, while all 10 Washington D.C. available Representatives were Won 100% by an Outsider supported by the Establishment, Marco Rubio, who Failed his overall Campaign Nationwide and was later Obliged to Stop and Quit the race. As even Experienced, Twice Elected, former US President GWBush (Son of Previous US President G.Bush) used to say : - "Everyday Life in the Capital, Washington DC, is often Harsh"...

So that, in fact, the Final Choice of the Austrian People might be more Complicated and Multifacet than some seem to think...
