Franco - German cooperation intends to create interesting inks between EU and Africa on Energy, including by using New Technologies on Renewable Energy Sources as the Solar :

- Indeed, a useful complement to the Germany-led "Desertec" Plan to create Solar Energy at Sahara, is France-led proposal to establish Electricity Transport Links between the EU and the Southern part of the Mediterranean, particularly for power from the Sun, called "TransGreen".

African Sahara, at the North of the Continent, has the biggest Uninhabited Areas in the World, particularly well exposed to the Sun, which could boost Economies of Scale for a Big Solar Energy Production Network linked to the EU from Spain (via Gibraltar), up to Greece (via Crete) and Cyprus, as well as Italy (via Malta and Sicilia), France (via Sardaigne and Corsica), etc.

Once brought inside the EU, Solar Energy-produced Electricity should be able to be easily transported towards Germany and other Central-Northern EU Member Countries through EU's own Electricity grids network.
