Romania: Basescu's win is good for EU's Rhine-Danube direct Energy link to Black Sea + Central Asia's resources. The close but solid win of Romanian President Traian Basescu in Sunday's Elections is good news for Europe, because he knows best how to help the EU organize the new Strategic link Rhine-Danube, from EU's Industrial heartland to the Black Sea and well beyond (i.e. Russia, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaidjan, Kazakstant, and other Central Asian Energy-producing countries).
He is an experienced Sea and River transport expert, and as a politician he knows perfectly well the issue, which has recently become of crucial importance, mainly for cheap and ecologic Energy transport, via a corridor controlled by EU itself and not Third countries, thanks to new technologies of liquified gas, etc. which can be stocked and transported in containers.
River axis Danube-Rhine has been declared a Priority corridor (No 18) for Trans-European Networks.
