"Obama: European jihadists threaten US

Washington (AFP) - US President Barack Obama warned that "battle-hardened" Europeans who embrace jihad in Syria and Iraq threaten the United States because their passports mean they can enter the country without a visa.

Nearly 800 French citizens have spent time fighting in Syria's civil war, according to latest estimates, and Belgium says 200 of its people have done the same. Britain puts its number at 400.

Those holding French, Belgian and British passports -- along with a host of other European countries -- do not need visas to visit the United States, meaning they can potentially avoid scrutiny.

"We have seen Europeans sympathetic to their (militants') cause traveling into Syria and may now travel into Iraq, getting battle-hardened. Then they come back," Obama warned in an interview that aired Sunday on the US broadcaster ABC.

These combatants "have a European passport. They don't need visas to get into the United States," he told "This Week."

"Now, we are spending a lot of time, and we have been for years, making sure we are improving intelligence to respond to that.

"We have to improve our surveillance, reconnaissance, intelligence there. Special forces are going to have a role. And there are going to be times where we take strikes against organizations that could do us harm."

Fears about Europeans returning from militant action were underlined when Mehdi Nemmouche, a French-Algerian who fought alongside radical Islamists in Syria for more than a year, allegedly killed four people in a deadly shooting at the Jewish Museum in Brussels on May 24.

Responding to Obama, Republican lawmaker Peter King said the president's don't go far enough.

"He should be very aggressive on this. Syria is our biggest threat," said King, a member of the Homeland Security Committee and chairman of the Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence.

"Not only are there thousands of Europeans who have visas to get into the United States going to Syria, but there are 100-plus  Americans over there in Syria right now."

Franklin Graham Is The Latest American Social Conservative To Praise Putin

TOM KLUDT – MARCH 19, 2014, 11:05 AM EDT

Vladimir Putin is getting all sorts of love from America. Republican hawks have been impressed ..... while social conservatives can't help but tip their hat....

The latter category welcomed the evangelist Franklin Graham to its ranks this month.

Graham, the son of Rev. Billy Graham, praised Putin for signing a law that bars “propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations to minors."

“In my opinion, Putin is right on these issues,” Graham wrote in the latest issue of Decision magazine, as quoted by the Raleigh News & Observer. “Obviously, he may be wrong about many things, but he has taken a stand to protect his nation’s children from the damaging effects of any gay and lesbian agenda.

As Graham sees it, Putin compares favorably to President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and many members of Congress, all of whom he says "have turned their backs on God and His standards."

Graham echoes conservative commentator and former presidential candidate Pat Buchanan, who commended Putin's "moral clarity" in December.

"President Reagan once called the old Soviet Empire 'the focus of evil in the modern world.' President Putin is implying that Barack Obama's America may deserve the title in the 21st century," Buchanan wrote. "Nor is he without an argument when we reflect on America's embrace of abortion on demand, homosexual marriage, pornography, promiscuity, and the whole panoply of Hollywood values."

The American Conservative's Rod Dreher followed that column by saying he didn't necessarily agree with all of Buchanan's argument, but agreed that Putin was "on to something."

A few days before Buchanan's piece was published, Matt Barber at WND, a bastion of fringe right-wing thought, wrote that Putin "feels emboldened to claim for Russia the mantle of world moral leader."

But the evangelist Bryan Fischer was saluting Putin before all of them. In October, Fischer called Putin a "lion of Christianity."

“The contrast between [Putin] and our president could not possibly be more striking,” Fischer lamented. “Just a bizarre day. To ever think we would get to the day that Russia would be more advanced spiritually than the United States. I mean, it’s just staggering to see what is happening to this country.”

American Buchanan supports Russian Putin: "At God's side" and "Leader of World's moral Conservatives" against "Undemocratic Destruction of Values"  ?!

Russia is on God's side - Pat Buchanan

22 April 2014, 03:20 èè Analyzing Vladimir Putin’s speech on the day when Russia reunited with Crimea, Pat Buchanan made a conclusion that "Russia is on God's side. The West is Gomorrah." Pat Buchanan, Former Assistant to the President for Communications gave his assessment of the Putin’s actions. According to him, Russia is "planting Russia's flag firmly on the side of traditional Christianity", standing firmly in its position against reproductive choice and LGBT rights. This, according to Buchanan is the evidence that God is on Putin's side in his showdown with the West.

In his column on April 4 Buchanan named Putin as the global leader against "a hedonistic secular and social revolution coming out of the West".
Previously, the West along with Western leaders and media compared Putin’s actions on Crimean issue to Hitler and Austrian Anschluss. Buchanan thinks that Vladimir Putin knows exactly what he is doing.

As Buchanan puts it, "In the culture war for the future of mankind, Putin is planting Russia's flag firmly on the side of traditional Christianity." He claims that Putin’s speeches go along with the speeches of John Paul II regarding the "culture of death."

The West firm position on easy divorce, pornography, homosexuality, euthanasia etc go against the fundamental Christian values, Buchanan thinks.
According to Allan Carlson, founder of World Congress of Families (WCF), "While the other super-powers march to a pagan world-view. Russia is defending Christian values. During the Soviet era, Western communists flocked to Moscow. This year, World Congress of Families VII will be held in Moscow, Sept. 10-12."
From the West point of view, Russia is standing against the LGBT community, effectively imposing bans between same-sex marriages, Pat Buchanan says that Putin is "trying to re-establish" his country's "moral compass."

In December, he named Putin social conservatism leader. Recently he has taken Putin’s side in the reunification of Crimea, standing strongly ideologically pro-Russian in his views.

Buchanan: Putin Is Leader Of Global Conservative Movement

SUBMITTED BY Brian Tashman on Tuesday, 12/17/2013 12:00 pm - Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan is completely enamored with Russian president Vladimir Putin, and is particularly excited about his anti-gay crackdown. In his syndicated column today, Buchanan lauds Putin as a leader of “conservatives and traditionalists in every country” who are resisting “the militant secularism of a multicultural and transnational elite” who push “abortion on demand, homosexual marriage, pornography, promiscuity, and the whole panoply of Hollywood values.”

Putin is a champion of “conservatives, traditionalists and nationalists of all continents and countries” and has taken up their fight “against the cultural and ideological imperialism of what he sees as a decadent West,” Buchanan writes.

With America clearly in mind, Putin declared, “In many countries today, moral and ethical norms are being reconsidered.”

“They’re now requiring not only the proper acknowledgment of freedom of conscience, political views and private life, but also the mandatory acknowledgment of the equality of good and evil.”

Translation: While privacy and freedom of thought, religion and speech are cherished rights, to equate traditional marriage and same-sex marriage is to equate good with evil. No moral confusion here, this is moral clarity, agree or disagree.

President Reagan once called the old Soviet Empire “the focus of evil in the modern world.” President Putin is implying that Barack Obama’s America may deserve the title in the 21st century.

Nor is he without an argument when we reflect on America’s embrace of abortion on demand, homosexual marriage, pornography, promiscuity, and the whole panoply of Hollywood values. Our grandparents would not recognize the America in which we live.

Moreover, Putin asserts, the new immorality has been imposed undemocratically.

The “destruction of traditional values” in these countries, he said, comes “from the top” and is “inherently undemocratic because it is based on abstract ideas and runs counter to the will of the majority of people.”

Does he not have a point?

Unelected justices declared abortion and homosexual acts to be constitutionally protected rights. Judges have been the driving force behind the imposition of same-sex marriage. Attorney General Eric Holder refused to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act.

America was de-Christianized in the second half of the 20th century by court orders, over the vehement objections of a huge majority of a country that was overwhelmingly Christian.

And same-sex marriage is indeed an “abstract” idea unrooted in the history or tradition of the West. Where did it come from?

Peoples all over the world, claims Putin, are supporting Russia’s “defense of traditional values” against a “so-called tolerance” that is “genderless and infertile.”

While his stance as a defender of traditional values has drawn the mockery of Western media and cultural elites, Putin is not wrong in saying that he can speak for much of mankind.

As the decisive struggle in the second half of the 20th century was vertical, East vs. West, the 21st century struggle may be horizontal, with conservatives and traditionalists in every country arrayed against the militant secularism of a multicultural and transnational elite.

He is seeking to redefine the “Us vs. Them” world conflict of the future as one in which conservatives, traditionalists and nationalists of all continents and countries stand up against the cultural and ideological imperialism of what he sees as a decadent West.

“We do not infringe on anyone’s interests,” said Putin, “or try to teach anyone how to live.” The adversary he has identified is not the America we grew up in, but the America we live in, which Putin sees as pagan and wildly progressive.

Lorsque la centre-Droite banalise le Marriage/adoption d'Enfants par Homosexuels => l'"extreme-droite" monte au  No 1 !

IMF warned Turkey that Recession is looming, particularly if its huge Deficit in the Current Accounts persists to grow in Worrying proportions, after reaching already - 7,4 % for 2013.

Thus, a bumpy Crash would be inevitable "in case of an abrupt Delay or Stop of Foreign Capital influx", while Inflation jumped up to more than +8,8% recently, during this year..

25  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Enlargement - Foreign Policy / After opposing anew Turkey's unpopular EU bid, UKIP re-booms in Local Elections on: May 04, 2013, 02:51:31 AM
UKIP boosted in Local Elections after opposing anew Turkey's unpopular EU bid (mixed to Immigration issues)

For a 2nd time in a row since its astonishing win at 2009 EU Elections, unorthodox  UKIP party won a huge boost in Great Britain"s Local/Regional Elections, shortly after it confirmed anew that it's "the only political party in the UK to clearly oppose Turkey'"s controversrial and unpopular EU bid, as a UKIP MEP stressed recently at EU Parliament's plenary during the discussion of EU Commission's Annual Reports on Enlargment, as NIgel Farage had altready done at first during the 2009 European Elections, when opposition to Turkey had become No 1 in UKIP¨'s Agenda, resulting in an Historic Victory as 2nd Party in he UK, outnumbering even the governing then New Labour Party.

Jumbing far beyond any previous Polls' predictions, the original UKIP politicians now won more than 23 % of the votes in Great Britain's latest Local/Regional Elections, outnumbering even the Governing Coalition partner Lib/Dems (down to only 11%), and approaching dangerously the No 1 Governing party of the Conservatives (about 25%), that they might have also ounumbered if they had presented candidates in all concerned areas, instead of only in some selected hotspots.

The succesfull UKIP's recipe criticised this time both Turkey's controversial  and unpopular EU Enlargement claim and its immediate repercussions on EU Financial and Immigration problems, etc, which affect EU Citizens' everyday lives.
26  European view on the WORLD / on Geopolitical REGIONS / Turkey GDP Falls Down -3/4: from 8% to only 2%, now 1%! But Deficit still Rises on: April 20, 2013, 05:21:16 PM
Turkey GDP Falls Down -3/4: from 8% to only 2% and now 1%! But Deficit continues to Rise...

Turkey's growth fell Down to only 2,2% in 2012, i.e. Less than ...one quarter (1/4) of what it was back on 2011 (8,8% : already Down from more 9,2% in 2010, after the "2009 Recession").

At the beginning of 2013, Ankara's growth even Fell at the Lowest level ever since the 2009 Recession : Only 1,4% on January 2013, compared to Jan. 2012, according to Bloomberg.

In comparison, at the same time, Israel's Growth was up to +3,1%, and Russia's even Higher : +3,4 %...

----------

But, meanwhile, "Turkey’s (already Problematic : See previous Warnings already published) foreign trade Deficit increased by + 2.4 % at the beginning of 2013, compared against the same month in 2012, reaching  - $ 7.291 Billions"

Nevertheless, at the same time, EU's Exports towards Turkey fell down for - 1,6 % at the beginning of 2013, while Turkish Exports competing against EU businesses grew : In other words : Ankara buys less from Europe, but sells to Europe more products, to the detriment of European businesses.
27  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Economy - Social - Technologies / Re: Dijsselbloem undermines €uroArea via scandalous blunder on Cyprus ! on: March 24, 2013, 10:36:54 AM
Dijsselbloem undermines €uroArea via scandalous blunder on Cyprus !

.../...

+ Moreover, there is even an obvious Conflict of Interest, in Dijsselbloem's case, concerning particulaly his Cyprus' blunder :

- It's not only due to the fact that that "Socialist" politician is blatantly in favor of Turkey's unpopular EU claims, (and, therefore, ready to do anything in order to push towards Ankara's controversial entry inside the EU, including, logically, to "eliminate" any eventual objection from Cyprus, an EU Member Country notoriously half-Occupied by an illegal, Foreign Invasion/Occupation Army from Turkey),

+ but also to the Scandalous "coincidence" that, even these SAME DAYS that Mr. Dijsselbloem slyly trapped Hundreds of Thousands of People throughout EU Member Country) Cyprus, and threatens to Discredit also many other EU Banks, in differend EU Countries, vis a vis Citizens, Businesses and International investors,

his pals, as f.ex. PM Rutte, back in that Center-Left Government in Netherlands, are posing in front of TV Cameras and Photos, (boasting  that "Turkey will surely join the EU !"),  side by side, together with ... Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan !...

=> Isn't it a scandalously Big Blatant obvious CONFLICT OF INTERESTS ?..

Such guys currently serve to "Kill" the "European Dream", throughout the entire  World-wide Web !...
(Comp. f.ex. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=K5R2JyU_MKg
 +  http://fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com/tag/jeroen-dijsselbloem/ )

-------------------------------------------

You mean that it was exactly at the SAME DAY, March 21, 2013, that :

   (1) Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan visited Hague, at the Netherlands, boasting, together with Center-Left coalition PM Rutte (Liberal), that "Turkey will certainly enter inside the EU", (contrary to the will of the Majority of EU Citizens),

    (2) the Dutch "Socialist" new Finance Minister Dijsselbloem, (astonishingly new Chair of EuroGroup), made Statements, at the SAME PLACE  : in Hague, Netherlands, on Cyprus, imposing Conditions to any eventually Alternative plan,

+ (3) Moreover, Turkish sources notoriously started to Threaten that Ankara would oppose, (raising all imaginable judicial and/or political obstacles), any attempt for Cyprus to pay all or part of the provoked Debts by the Oil/Gas discovered at its Territorial Waters, (as we saw elsewhere); etc.

All that, at the same time, is too much !...

These facts obviously look not only as "Conflict of Interests", as you rightfully denounced, but even as a blatant, petty Plot to strangle Cyprus in order to almost Steal its Oil/Gas resources from Europe, and practically give them to Turkey !

  (4) In addition, all this happened exactly during the same Date that USA's Big Chief "Oh - BAM - Ah...", (another notorious propagadist of Turkey's unpopular EU bid) was just passing by... What a long series of astonishing "coincidences" !....
28  European view on the WORLD / on Geopolitical REGIONS / Turkish Economy Decline: Big CA Deficit -5,3% GDP Fall. Swaps' Yields Costs rise on: December 10, 2012, 06:43:32 AM
EU Commission's Annual 2012 Report on Turkey already had much more Warnings about not only the "Decline" of the Turkish Economy, as you noted, but even on Looming Risks for a Sudden Crisis of a Vulnerable Turkish financial contradictions and dangerous structural Weaknesses, (apparently maintained until now only by artificial means) :

Quote
- "Turkey has large external Imbalances, and remains Vulnerable to further global financial Shocks, in particular capital flow Reversals".

- "the Fragmentation of responsibilities between government bodies appears to be
increasingly Complicating coordination for budgeting and medium-term economic policy making. Decisions are sometimes taken on an ad hoc basis and impact assessments are either Lacking or based on Partial information", ("as more ministries and governing structures have been created", meanwhile, i.e. augmenting Bureaucracy)..

 - "In 2011, the Turkish economy" slowed "slightly Down" - 0,7% less GDP, compared to 2010, but it was mainly "Domestic Demand (which led to Import volumes increasing 10.6% on the year, while the level of Export volumes was (only) 6.5% higher than in 2010", i.e. resulted in a further Deterioration of Trade Deficit for - 4% worse, (See below).

- Meanwhile, "the Turkish Lira was Depreciated by - 20% vis  a vis the €uro in 2011".

- "Since mid-2011, ... the pace of Growth has been Slowing Down gradually, in line
with the Slowdown in domestic demand....A major growth Deceleration was observed in the first half of 2012, (down) to 3.1% year-on-year", i.e. a Drop of -5,3% in Turkish GDP compared to last year !

- "Fixed Investment Decreased by -3.2%", during the first half of 2012.

- "Private Domestic Consumption (residents Households), which accounts for over 70% of GDP, was down by -0.2% year-on-year in the first six months of 2012",

so that, => "the only domestic demand component that posted above-average growth was Government Consumption".

>>> In plain language : the Turkish Economy is artificially kept out of a looming Crisis, thanks only to EU Taxpayers' Money, (i.e. more than about 1 Billion € each Year !), distributed in full EU Grants to Ankara under pretext of its notoriously unpopular EU "accession" claims...

- "A further Deceleration is already being witnessed to some extent in leading indicator data. Surveys of Manufacturing business confidence and capacity Utilisation have recently Fallen back to their Weakest levels in two years".

=> -"Overall, economic Growth is Slowing Down" in Turkey, "due to Weaker domestic demand", (which was the only "driver" in the recent Past).

- "In 2011, the Per Capita GDP of Turkey (PPP adjusted) amounted to 52% of the EU
average", (and it's obviously due to Fall even Lower during 2012).

- "The current Account Deficit rose from 6.6% of GDP in 2010 to 10% in 2011. The increase was entirely due to the Deterioration of the merchandise trade Deficit. In 2012, Turkey continued to run a Large current account Deficit, which leaves the Turkish currency Vulnerable to a sudden Loss of investor Confidence", EU Commission warned.

+ Moreover, "an expected Deterioration in External economic conditions may make the increase in Export earnings Difficult to sustain".

- "Capital inflows... during 2011 and the first half year of 2012, ...were significantly Lower than a year earlier". In addition, they didn't correspond so much to Productive, Industrial investment, but rather on Foreign purchases of (Turkish) Government Bonds  ..., and Foreign Lending ...)" , mainly in order to "offset the current account Deficit".

Indeed, "at the same time, foreign Direct Investment remains Low, proportionally to the size of the current account Deficit, at Only 13% of Total capital inflows over the first six months of 2012".

=> In consequence, "Turkey’s large Dependence on Shorter-term Capital, makes it highly Susceptible to the current Global Uncertainties", EU Commission warned.

- "The Central Bank’s official Reserves Decreased from € 61 billion in 2010 to € 56 billion in 2011", (i.e. - 5 Billions € less), while, "at the same time", on the contrary, "gross External Debt" practicaly remained at almost 40% of GDP.

- Turkish "Unemployment was 9,8% in 2011", while "the Labour Participation rate is ... as Low as (only) 30% for Women". But, "despite the Low proportion of the female population actively looking for work, the female Unemployment rate is slightly Higher than the male unemployment rate. In addition, about one third of women who are considered as "employed" are Unpaid family workers in the Agricultural sector. This Reduces the percentage of Women of working age who are Employed and receive an income to Less than 15% of the total" !

"Lack of affordable child care is among key Barriers for women’s entry into the labour market".

- The Turkish "Labour market Needs to absorb the Unemployed, and about one Million New entrants Every year. Overly strict employment protection laws Discourage employers from hiring. The prevalence of Undeclared work remains a major Challenge".
-----------------------

- "Inflation (in Turkey) was ...+10.5% in 2011, almost Doubling from 6.4% in 2010 and the official target of 5.5%", EU Commission denounnced, pointing on "highly Volatile Energy and Food Prices", and particularly on "rapidly Rising Food Prices".

=> In consequence, "Concerns about the level of Inflation, and the Vulnerability of the (Turkish) Lira to heightened global Risk aversion, owing to Turkey’s still large current account Deficit, have continued to pose Obstacles to...Monetary policy" :

- Thus, "the (Turkish) Central Bank has been compelled to sustain a Tightening bias over the past half year". And, "given the Inflation volatility and the current Weakness of the (Turkish) Lira (alongside most emerging market currencies) ..., Tight monetary policy needs to persist" in Turkey, according to EU Experts.

-------------
- But, in Turkish "Public Financial Management Law, some components are still Missing, in particular measures to enhance the Accountability, efficiency and Transparency of the Budgeting process. Consolidated general government accounts according to international accounting standards are still Not regularly Published. This makes it Difficult for citizens to hold the Government Accountable for its Management of Public Money. Full Implementation of the new Law on State Aid has been Postponed. ...Overall, No efforts were made to increase fiscal Transparency", EU denounced.

=> In consequence, "a Sudden Reduction or Reversal of (External, f.ex. EU) Capital Flows could put Pressure on the (Turkish) Lira, resulting in higher Inflation. ...Overall, ... the Turkish economy remains Vulnerable to bouts of Financial Uncertainty and the global Risk Sentiment", EU warned Ankara.
-----------------

+ Meanwhile, in addition, "the (Turkish) Government increasingly Interferes and independently Sets Prices, thereby Suspending automatic (Market) mechanisms".

At the same time, "there has been Limited progress in the Restructuring and Transparency of State-owned Enterprises. The pace of Privatisation Slowed Down significantly, chiefly due to investors’ Difficulties in gaining access to Long-term external Financing"

"As a result, tenders for 2 electricity distribution companies remained Inconclusive. Deadlines and procedures for various Tenders, including the natural Gas tender, were Extended. Total Privatisation receipts Decreased from € 2.2 Billion in 2010 (0.4% of GDP) to € 971 Million (0.2% of GDP) in 2011", (i.e. -250% Lower)...
-------------------

Moreover, "starting a business in Turkey remains Costly, and corresponds to 11.2% of per capita income. Some fees are still Not Transparent, such as those for the official registration of a company’s articles and accounts. Trade registry Fees are significant. Progress in removing exit Barriers remains Weak.
Closing a business is still Expensive and Time-Consuming. Insolvency procedures take about 3.3 Years and recovery rates — at 22% on average — remain very Low. Registering a property in Turkey Costs 3.3% of its value, requires 6 separate Procedures and takes 6 Days. Obtaining a construction Permit is Expensive and Time-Consuming: on average it takes 24 procedures and 189 Days" (sic !). Costs correspond to almost 200% of the average per Capita Income. Overall, ...while market exit remains Costly and Long, and insolvency Proceedings are still Heavy and Inefficient"...

+ Moreover, "Enforcement of commercial Contracts is still a rather Lengthy process, involving 36 procedures and taking an average of 420 Days (!). Commercial court judges Lack specialisation, which results in Lengthy court Proceedings.. Overall, .... No Progress has been observed" in the Turkish "Legal System"..
-------------------------

On the Turkish "Financial sector", "there was No Progress in the Privatisation of state-owned Banks, planned a long time ago. The share of the Insurance sector remained Small and Underdeveloped, with 3% of the total financial sector. Largely in tandem with the growth performance, Credit expansion Slowed Down gradually, from about 40% year-on-year in mid- 2010, to about 12% by mid-2012", (i.e. a Drop of -28% !). .... The value of outstanding Debt
instruments traded in the bond market amounted to about 40% of GDP. Private Debt issues Increased significantly, from 1.3% of the total equity market in 2011 to 4.1% in mid-2012", (i.e. a + 2,8% aggravation).
-----------------------

=> In overall,, "the rapid expansion of the current account Deficit, and strong Inflationary Pressures, point to the Return of significant Imbalances in the Turkish economy", EU Commission warned.

-----------------
+ Meanwhile, even in workforce Education, "Challenges have remained substantial. Participation in Higher education remains Low by international standards and... the vast Majority of Turkish Students display Low proficiency levels in basic skills and problem-solving", and " Roll Eyes

- "Actual outcomes remain much Lower", than "the (EU) target of 2% of GDP on Research and Development", "given that", in Turkey, "R&D expenditure amounted to just 0.84% of GDP in 2010 (latest available data)", (i.e. Less than Half of EU's Minimum)..

In addition, "No extra (Electric) Power generating capacity has been Built" in Turkey. "Modest progress was made in the upgrading of infrastructure. Overall, improvements in the country’s physical capital have been Modest".

"No tangible progress can be reported on reducing BOTAS’ (Gas) Monopolistic market share, while attempts to replace the terminated contract with the Russian Federation by contracts with the private sector remained Unsuccessful".
---------------
- "Fewer jobs were created in services and industry, whose share in total employment went Down to 48% and 19.5% respectively in 2011".
--------------------------
- Turkish "unit Labour Costs appear to have Increased at a slightly Faster pace than labour productivity in 2011 and the first half year of 2012. Labour Costs went Up in 2011 by +10.2% for the whole economy, by +9.1% in Manufacturing, and by +14.1% in the Construction sector. Conversely, the non-wage Labour Cost index, which shows social security contributions and severance payments per hour,Increased by +9.1%".

+ At the same time, "the Turkish Lira Depreciated vis-à-vis the €uro by -20% and against the US dollar by -23.3% in 2011. The real effective exchange rate (against a basket of 50% US dollar and 50% euro) also Decreased in 2011 by about -15% (the CPI-based REER index Decreased from 125.7 in 2010 to 109.5 in 2011", i.e. -16,2)".

---------------

- "EU’s share of Turkey’s total Trade Decreased from 41.7% in 2010 to 40.8% in 2011. Between 2010 and 2011, the EU share of Turkey’s exports remained stable at 46%, while its import share Decreased from 42.6% to 41.7%. However, first half of 2012 data indicate that shares have been Falling due to a weakening of EU demand. The EU continued to be the main source of FDI inflows to Turkey, albeit with a Falling share,... as FDI from Non-EU countries Increased More than from the EU", observed EU Experts, pointig at a increasingly Non-European orientation of Turkey....
---------------

Moreover, "No progress can be reported on capital movements and payments" :

- "Although the eligibility list is Not Public, it seems that Restrictions remain for Greek citizens in coastal regions and in Istanbul, for Bulgarian citizens in the Turkish Bulgarian border provinces, as well as for Cypriot citizens. Turkey’s legislative framework in this area is Not in line with Article 63 of the EU Treaty...  Turkey still Needs to adopt an action plan for gradually Liberalising the Acquisition of Real Estate by Foreigners, in line with the (EU) acquis". "Restrictions on foreign ownership persist in radio and TV broadcasting, transport, education, and the privatisation of electricity distribution and generation assets3. Therefore, Considerable efforts are Needed to align the current legal framework on capital movements and payments with the EU acquis.

Worse : - "No progress can be reported in payment systems" :

- In particular, "Limited progress has been made on alignment with the acquis in the fight against "Money Laundering". A draft law on the prevention of the Financing of Terrorism .... has Not been adopted yet.

=> "The (International) Financial Action Task Force (FATF) therefore decided to keep Turkey on the List of jurisdictions with strategic Anti-Money Laundering/Combatting the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Deficiencies" !

- "Particular Deficiencies identified by the FATF are the Lack of Criminalisation of Financing of Terrorism, and the Inadequate legal framework for Identifying and Freezing Terrorist Assets".

=> "In its public statement in June 2012 the FATF noted that ...Turkey has Not made sufficient progress in implementing its action plan and certain strategic CFT Deficiencies remain.  ...."Results with regard to convictions, confiscations, seizures and freezing of assets remain Limited.

+ "Turkey has Not Ratified the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime, and on the Financing of Terrorism (CETS 198)"

Conclusion

"Limited progress has been made in the area of free movement of capital. Restrictions on
capital movements remain in place in a number of sectors, including on direct investments originating from the EU".

"Enforcement capacity against "Money Laundering" and Financing of Terrorism Needs to be improved. The legal framework to combat financing of terrorism remains Incomplete and further, Urgent efforts are needed as regards alignment with the (EU) acquis and the relevant FATF recommendations", (see above).

=> In consequence, "the (International Grouping) FATF Urged Turkey to address these Deficiencies, and announced that it would Call upon its Members to apply Counter-Measures, proportionate to the Risks associated with Turkey if it does not take significant action by October 2012". ....

EU/UNO Peace keeping force needed in Turkey's kurdish areas hit by Quake, War, Thefts, illtreatments, +

A European or International Peace-keeping force is urgently needed in the Kurdish areas of Turkey which have been recently badly hit by War, Earthquake, and even Organized Crime and Theft, according to alarming reports which converge on the need to act in order to save People's Lives from a rapidly deteriorating situation :

Among others :

- The Turkish Military has reportedly started massive strikes even against simple peasants, brutally hindered to cultivate their land and threatened with violent killings in both sides of the Iraqi border.

- Victims of the Earthquake which stroke against the nearby Van area have started to denounce Discrimination, long Delays and that they are "treated worse than animals" by the Turkish Soldiers and other State agents.

- Many Kurdish Prisoners  are  held inside a Turkish Prison already badly hit by the Earthquake in Van, their Families demonstrated vainly asking Turkey to transport them in a safe area, while even Arm Fire is reportedly heard by eyewitnesses.

- At the same time, search and rescue for survivants after the Quake curiously stops earlier than normal, while People are still found alive at the debris ; Humanitarian supplies are .. stolen by Turkish thugs before they arrive to the Kurdish victims ; and many Hundreds of People whose Homes were destroyed reportedly are obliged to stay at the cold of the Kurdish Mountains even overnight, since even sleeping Tents are hindered to arrive on time at the place of the drama, (etc)..

- Finaly, the Turkish State itself admitted that it cannot cope with the dramatic situation at the Kurdish villages hit by the Earthquake and War, obliged to start asking for International Help, (after having refused for too long a time)..

=> In such Dramatic  conditions, (and given Turkish State Agents' notorious reputation even on Torture, Killings and Inhuman/Degrading treatments of Kurds and other dissidents), the International Community has a Duty to urgently act in order to Protect the Lives and the basic Human Dignity of the Kurdish population badly hit by all these tragic events !
