MOSCOW, May 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a telephone talk with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi on Tuesday that a punitive army operation in south-eastern Ukraine should be stopped immediately .

During the telephone talk, the Russian leader and the Italian premier “exchanged their opinions on the Ukraine situation in the context of the presidential elections held on May 25,” the Kremlin press office said.

“Vladimir Putin stressed the need for an immediate end to the punitive army operation in south-eastern regions and the establishment of Kiev’s peaceful dialogue with representatives of the regions,” the Kremlin press office said.

No objection for your Video, in principle,

.....

For the rest, it's obvious that, at any case, EU Citizens will certainly judge all EU Parties and Candidates to EU Parliament's elections also according to the stance that they'll take in favour of Peace and Development for Europe, or the contrary.. In that sens, the Ukranian Crisis is naturally a topical "Issue" for these elections, OK....

OK, dear HelmutD.

But, by the occasion, here is another video too, among those that the concerned people watch there :

22  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Defence - Security - Civic protection / Easter Night Attack by Extremists kills Protestors at Eastern Ukraine (Slaviansk on: April 22, 2014, 02:00:38 AM
Christian Easter Night hit by Deadly Extremists' attack killing 3 Protestors at Eastern Ukraine (Slovjansk) despite Geneva Agreement

By a macabre surprise, it's during the Holy Christian Easter Night, and just after the International Geneva Agreement for a Peaceful Solution in Ukraine, that at least 3 Federalist Demonstrators were reportedly Killed, and several others Wounded, after an Armed Attack by a Group of Ukranian Extremists at Slowjansk, a city of the Donetsk Region in Eastern Ukraine, where Popular Revolts have notroriously multiplied recently in reaction to the Power-shift at Kiev after the February 2014 popular revolts and other incidents at Maidan square.

According to the International Geneva Agreement's official Statement of last Thursday,  April 17, 2014 : "... All sides must refrain from any violence, intimidation or provocative actions. The participants strongly condemned and rejected all expressions of extremism, ....", while also "All illegal armed groups must be disarmed...."

For that purpose, "... the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission should play a leading role in assisting Ukrainian authorities and local communities in the  immediate implementation of these de-escalation measures wherever they are needed most, beginning in the coming days. The US, E.U. and Russia commit to support this mission, ..."
But, as even the German version of "Wikipedia" observes, Slowjansk has become, these last few Days, "a Center of "anti-Terrorist Special Operations by the Ukranian Army", as the those currently in power at Kiev named them.

Several Eyewitnesses on the spot are reported by several media to have denounced the fact that it's precisely at around 01 a.m. local time, i.e. just an Hour after the notoriously most important moment in the Orthodox Christian Religious litourgy for Easter : the anonciatoins of Christ's Resurrection, that a Group of Armed Extremists, including apparently  the "Ukranian Right Sector" according to material Evidence found afterwards, attacked a Road check post held then by unarmed Demonstrators protecting the City, and immediately killed one of them, while another one was killed by "Snipers" when he got out of a Forest where they survivants were obliged to hide in order to try to save their lives. Afterwards, when an Armed Group of Demonstrators was called to Help defend that Post, at least one among the Attackers was killed, while the others run away, abandoning some of their Cars, which were later burned by protestors angry for that sly Deadly Aggression at Easter Night, during which Bullets were from the start fired against Protestors even without saying anything to them.

The Ukranian Police has reportedly acknowledged the Death of at least 3 Persons, as well as the fact that many others were Wounded after that Holy Religious Night's armed attack, contrary to the Ukranian Authorities' official promise that at least during the Holy Easter's weekend, a Truce would be respected by all.

Strong protests by the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov for that unwarned violent Deadly Attack in Violation of the Geneva Agreement, were reportedly met just with USA's State Secretary Kerry's demand from Russia to implement its supposed part of that deal, without even mentioning the aggression at Slowjensk.

The city (spelled also : "Slavyansk") was, according to the French version of "Wikipedia", occupied by the NAZI Invasion Army between 1941-1943, and hosts a "Monument to those killed" during popular Resistance, but it also voted more than 90% for former President of Ukraine Yanukovich, ousted after the February 2014 Deadly incidents at Kiev and currently a Refugee at nearby Russia, despite a previous Agreement with the Leaders of the former Opposition, sponsored by 3 EU Foreign Ministers, which was never applied until now.

It's there that a group of 6 Armoured Vehicles of the Ukranian Military refused to attack the Demonstrators when the Ukranian Soldiers switched to the side of the Popular Protests, giving them their arms and vehicles, creating a famous surprise at the eve of Geneva Talks. Moreover, meanwhile, the Sloviansk demonstrators were the first to get these same days access to a Radio-TV Media, which is of crucial importance because of the Propapanda War currently unfolding between the two sides, while efforts have grown to start a meaningful and peaceful political "Dialogue".

UN Ukraine Envoy ("Fuck the EU !") send from Crimea  to .. Turkey eve of Cyprus' Invasion/Occupation 40th Anniversary !

UNO's envoy for Ukraine, Robert Serry, (whose appointment has been marked by the infamous .. "Fuck the EU !" statement by USA's Assistant Secretary of State for Europe, Victoria Nuland, at an intercepted Phone Call recently...), was reportedly unwelcome at Crimea, which prepares a Referendum for Autonomy in reaction to the recent Bloody Events at Kiev : After an "AutoDefence" Group reportedly kept him briefly at a meeting room, he was "obliged" to take an Airplane, not to Kiev,, but..... to Istanbul, in Turkey !

=> Nice choice of Destination : Because he arrived to Turkey precisely at the eve of the .. 4Oth Anniversary of EU Member Country Cyprus' Turkish Military Invasion/Occupation of 1974-2014, having an excellent opportunity to learn what it really means to face a Foreign Army Invasion, entering with Deadly Violence inside another, Independent Country, brutaly chassing away the Majority of its ancestral, lawful Inhabitants and "changing" its Population by a Massive and Systematic import of Foreign Settlers coming from the  Occupying State, making more than 1.650 Persons from its Population to go "MISSING",, and transforming 190.000 others into Refugees (20% of the invaded Country's Total Population!), obliged to Flee Violence, and Hindered to Return back to their Family Homes and Ancestral Land, despite ECHR's judgements asserting their Human Rights to do so, while UN SC Resolutions calling to withdraw Foreign Troops are simply ignored, and the UN SG engaged in Diplomatic efforts to solve the Political issue, find an Agreement and reUnify the Country, vainly for 40 Years...

If anyone really wants to make respect UNO's principles, (about "Territorial Integrity" of States etc),  he should, obviously, do so in all relevant cases, without "cherry-picking" only those which might coincide with his interests at a precise moment only, while droping all other ...

Russia warns Syrian leader he may face 'sad fate'

By VLADIMIR ISACHENKOV - Associated Press |

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Thursday he has warned Syria's leader that he will face a "sad fate" if he fails to introduce reforms in his country and open a peaceful dialogue with the opposition.

In remarks carried by Russian news agencies, Medvedev said he has delivered this message to Syrian President Bashar Assad.

An offensive by Syrian forces against anti-government dissent in the city of Hama, backed by tanks and snipers, has killed scores of people since Sunday.

"Regrettably, large numbers of people are dying there. That causes us grave concern," Medvedev was quoted as saying.

"That's why both on a personal level and in the letters I sent to him (Assad) I have emphasized that it's necessary to urgently conduct reforms, negotiate with the opposition, restore civil peace, and create a modern state."

"If he fails to do that, he will face a sad fate. And in the end we will also have to make some decisions. We are watching how the situation is developing. It's changing, and our approach is changing as well."

Medvedev and Russia's most powerful politician, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, have long urged Assad to find a compromise with the opposition. In June, Putin warned Assad against using "political instruments of 40 years ago." But at the same time, Moscow had warned the West against interfering with Syrian affairs and objected to a U.N. resolution.

U.S. and European members of the U.N. Security Council had been pressing for months for a legally binding resolution that would strongly condemn Syria.

In the U.S., the Obama administration moved to further isolate Assad and his inner circle for their brutal crackdown on anti-government protesters by imposing sanctions on a prominent pro-regime businessman and his firm.

Thursday's sanctions against Assad family confidante Muhammad Hamsho and his firm, Hamsho International Group, freeze any assets they may have in U.S. jurisdictions and bar Americans from doing business with them. Hamsho's holding company has about 20 subsidiaries ranging from construction, civil engineering, telecommunications and hotels to carpet sales, horse trading and ice cream production.

Russia — which has had close political ties with Syria since Soviet times and provided it with weapons — had urged Assad to find a compromise with the opposition but warned that the West shouldn't interfere in Syrian affairs with such a resolution.

But on Wednesday, after Russia and other countries dropped their long-standing opposition, the U.N. Security Council finally responded to the escalating violence in Syria by condemning Assad's forces for attacking civilians and committing human rights violations.

The presidential statement adopted by the council, which is weaker than a legally binding resolution, urges Syrian authorities to immediately end all violence and launch an inclusive political process that will allow the Syrian people to fully exercise "fundamental freedoms ... including that of expression and peaceful assembly."

Germany's Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle on Thursday called for a special U.N. envoy on Syria to be named and immediately dispatched "to bring the clear message of the international community to Damascus."

Amnesty International criticized the U.N. Security Council for not being tougher.

Jose Luis Diaz, the human rights group's U.N. representative, called the council statement "completely inadequate," saying members should have adopted a legally binding resolution imposing an arms embargo on Syria, freezing Assad's assets and referring the crackdown against protesters to the International Criminal Court.

Diaz also criticized the council for failing to support a U.N. Human Rights Council fact-finding mission to Syria to investigate the violence. Syrian authorities have refused to allow the U.N. delegation into the country.

In a lonely show of support for Damascus, Cuba's Foreign Ministry on Thursday accused the West of pressuring the U.N. into adopting decisions against the Syrian government.

"Cuba reiterates its confidence in the ability of the Syrian people and government to resolve their internal problems with no foreign interference," the statement said.

72 demonstrators killed, 200 others injured in Syria

23.04.2011, 01.26

BEIRUT, April 23 (Itar-Tass) -

- The number of demonstrators killed in Syria on Friday has grown to 72. Most of them were victims of a crackdown on anti-government protests in Homs, Dera'a and the suburbs of Damascus. More than 200 others were injured.

According reports from Syria, protesters came under fire from the Syrian police and security services, some protesters choked on tear gas, the National Committee on Human Rights said Friday.

According to the Committee, 15 people were killed in Dera'a province and suburbs of Damascus, and 15 - in the city of Homs in the center of the country.

According to the head of the National League for the Protection of Human Rights, Omar al-Courbet, 30 people were killed in the suburbs of Damascus. However, according to the national news agency SANA, the number of casualties during the demonstration was "only 8 people killed and 20 others wounded." The protesters’ actions were presented "as a criminal attack by armed gangs."

Syria's Interior Ministry issued a statement stating that, under the new law "formal approval from the authorities is required to conduct any demonstrations."

As human rights activist Ayman Aswad said, the authorities failed to bring down a wave of protests even by the announcement of the abolition of the state of emergency.

"The people want real change - an amnesty, freedom of speech, a multiparty system, an end to harassment by the police apparatus and a general election," he pointed out. Aswad argues if President Bashar al-Assad “really seeks to regain people's trust, he should distance himself from the law enforcement agencies and abolish the political monopoly of the ruling Baath Party."

28  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Defence - Security - Civic protection / "Rainy Moscow" in 3 Days ? Too Slow, and not enough... on: August 08, 2010, 09:24:10 PM

Apparently, it seems that the Solution that You advised might have started to work, but .. insufficiently yet, and too slowly  :

- Indeed, according to the World Meteorological Organization, Moscow will start to have RAINY Clouds in 3 Days : from Wednesday, August 11.

Logically, it all Starts with Smolensk, at the Western side, where Rainy Clouds should arrive First, resulting into a Big Drop in Temperatures : - 8 Degrees (from 36 to 28 C.), already one Day Earlier, from Tuesday, August 10.

The Same Day, Immediately afterwards comes Brjiansk, only a step closer to the Central Area, where Heat is due to Lower - 5 Degrees (from 38 to 33 C.).

At the famous Fire-stricken district Niznij Novgorod,  located after Moscow, at its Eastern Side, Rainy Clouds arrive on the Same Day as at the Russian Capital, but ..without any Change yet on its 34 C. Temperatures, (except, perhaps, that it'expected to Stop an Earlier Trend  towardsz Growing Heat)...

Finally, in Areas located Far Away from Moscow, but closer to many Eastern Heatwave/Forest Fires, f.ex. at Orenburg, the Rainy Clouds don't arrive not even in more than 3 Days later !!!  However, even there, the Highest Temperature remains Stable (34 Degrees), whie the Lower Temperature Starts a Downward Trend, Falling from 21 to 19 and afterwards 17 C. Degrees, between August 9 and 11.

=> Nevertheless, all these Facts obviously look like a Delayed and Insufficient Evolution, (even if Slowly Evolving towards the Right Direction, at least apparently); and, therefore, more Resolute Measures seem Urgently Needed in order to ensure more Rapid and more Efficient Results !
