Title: CoE : too much Turkey ?... Post by: SamantaPalasola on October 12, 2010, 07:09:21 AM Both CoE's committee of ministers and its parliamentary assembly, after its congres of local and regional authorities, etc., are due to be chaired by Turkey since November 2010, for the 1st time in the paneuropean (i.e. including also Russia, Azerbaidjan, etc) organization's history !
Not even big EU countries such as Germany, France or the UK and Italy, etc. didn't ever have such an over-concentration of CoE's top posts simultaneously attributed to their nationals only... Isn't it dangerous for CoE's credibility, considering its role as a Human Rights organization ? Results will speak de facto... But it's always better to prevent a possible catastrophe, instead of running afterwards to limit its eventual, but probable damages... Title: come back ? Post by: CharlesHert on October 30, 2014, 07:27:52 PM it seems that we'll have to hear much about Turkey, anew this time, from tolerating ISIS' heheadings, fresh killings of Kurdish people, persistent oppression against freedom of speech, (etc), up to accusations of journalists and even priests to be "spies", warships invading EU member Cyprus' exclusive economic zone searching to snatch gas, harsh accusations against Egypt, Israel, the UK (and even against .. "Laurence of Arabia", the liberator of Arab people from the invasion/occupation of Ottoman/Turc army, which had destroyed the once brillant Arab civilisation), more claims to get EU money and enter inside the EU, attempts to manipulate and exploit even the new Pope, folllow-up in attempts to interfere at European countries' internal affairs, and so on...
