Title: Multiliguism linked with Culture + Education at new EU Commission Post by: Jory on January 16, 2010, 11:49:12 PM Multilinguism (a separate issue in the out-going EU Commission) is now taken over by EU Commissioner designate Androula Vassiliou, who is also in charge of Culture, Education, Sport and Youth.
Indeed, isn't it a typically European Cultural characteristic ? Doesn't it need to invent and practice special Educational methods in order to succeed ? And isn't it, first of all, Young People who could and should be the natural target of EU multi-lingual policies ? The moment for multilinguism to gain cultural "substance", forge educational "tools", and spread throughout all EU thanks to well trained young people, has come ! |
