- While being a Frenchman (of Italian origin) he likes the Germans, and even claims that he might have been elected by them.. (it's true that he inspired even Bethoven). Bringing together France, Germany and Russia's areas and influencing England, seems to be his plan. - He dreams about a united Europe (fex. a confederation), and speaks about a "European Nation" and "European People". - He claims that an historic chance to build Europe was damaged at Waterloo, and predicted social unrest, uprisings, crisis and wars after the destruction of his system of governance and popular adherence. Indeed, Europe was marked afterwards by the 1830, 1848, 1871 and 1917 revolts, the 1870 Franco-German war, 1914 and 1940 World Wars, 1948-1989 East-West Division and "Cold War", etc., until it lost its predominacy and was outpaced by the USA, (which, on the contrary, profited, meanwhile, from their unification and peace). => In other words : After the 1989 "fall" of Berlin's "wall" and the 2004 EU Enlargement eastwards, has now Europe became, at last, able to overcome its past "Waterloo"s, and start winning its "Austerlitz, Tilsit, Wagram, Ulm", and other victories ? |
