on: July 08, 2011, 07:51:13 AM

staying "cool" despite e-aggressions (whose origin is obviously betrayed by several converging indications, including the choice of Politicaly crucial Days ; See supra), seems to be the best solution particularly in times of so many "Hot" issues, that they threaten to form a Heatwxave....

European CITIZENS and FORUM / European CITIZENSHIP / EU Citizens' Initiative ready to start soon ?
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:49:54 AM
|
Lisbon Treaty's perhaps most original innovation, EU Citizens' Initiative, is almost ready to be launched at the latest in the beginning of 2012, EU Officials said this week in Strasbourg.
If that's really the case, and despite long delays and some bureaucratic obstacles/restrictions (see f.ex. Eurofora's news, etc), that could be good news in the run up towards the preparation of 2014 EU Parliament's election.

EU ELECTIONS / EU-wide ISSUES / Some in Brussels' non-elected Bureaucracy attempt to revert 2009 EU Election ?!
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:48:32 AM
|
Particularly on the issue of Turkey's controversial EU aims, notoriously rejected by a large Majority of EU Citizens f.ex. in France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, etc (even in the UK : See f.ex. UKIP's unexpected 2009 EU Parliament Elections' win, when it focused its Campaign on the issue of - "No to Turkey's entry into the EU !" => Surprisingly, it got more Votes than the Liberals and even the Labour...

EU ELECTIONS / EU Electoral PROCESS / 2012-2014 period...

... is due to be very Intensive, considering, among others, also France's Presidential 2012 Elections, German 2013 National Election, etc., before EU Parliament's own re-Election on 2014, (which will be Crucial for redressing the recent Abstention Majority trend since 1999, after it just decelerated in 2009).

European view on the WORLD / on International ORGANISATIONS / UNO's renewal, or not, to be tested on Cyprus !
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:47:17 AM
|
UN SG Ban Ki Moon's yesterday's statements about "enhanced involvement" on Cyprus, and his new, 2016 Mandate's Ambitions to "Think Big", etc., show that UNO's capacity for ReNewal, or not, will be tested ialso n the way that it will handle, precisely, Cyprus' issue this time :
- I.e., in other words, will UNO become able to start really working as a genuine "International", Global Organizations, attracting the active involvement of all or most Countries that matter in this World ? Or will it, on the contrary, remain just a tool manipulated in fact by only a handful of a few States, always the same ?...

European view on the WORLD / on Global ISSUES / Obama .. "gloabalizes" Greece's Debt enigma !
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:46:40 AM
|
Obama's incredible statement, that ..."Greece"'s reported "Debt" would be one of the causes of the problems faced by his administration in Economy, looks .. funnier than Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, or Tweety and Sylvester, and many other Walt Disney's comic stories !
In fact, Greece's GDP is less than 2,6% of €uroGroup's GDP (the European core group of 18 Member States, which does not include f.ex. the UK, Sweden, and other excluded European countries), i.e. something obviously too small compared to the USA's big Econmy...
Poor Greece, except from its famous Ancient History and Culture, added to its Diaspora, it doesn't look today not at all as a "Global" thing... And; Global superpower USA's Giant Debt, (notoriously extended by Obama's spending for Genetic Manipulation of Human Embryos, Med. Industry, Cars, etc), is obviously too big in order to be able to .. hide its real causes behind a comic bla-bla on the so-called "Greek" mig-mar !

European POLICIES and ISSUES / Science - Health - Environment - Nature / E-coli Bacteria mystery...
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:41:46 AM
|
It has killed several persons in various countries, (Germany, France, USA, etc), but its real origins remain a Mystery, suspicions moving from one country to another, (from Spain to the UK, Egypt, etc), without clear result.
The only thing that seems crystal-clear is that in all deadly cases, the virus has been genetically altered, in various ways.

European POLICIES and ISSUES / Enlargement - Foreign Policy / Western Balkans
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:39:32 AM
|
Both for Geographic and Cultural reasons, it's obvious that the rapid integration of the Western Balkan's Countries, (f.ex. adding, after Croatia, also Serbia, Montenegro, FYROM, Albania, etc) into the EU must become a Priority to be fullfilled asap, (and, at any case, naturally long before Turkey's EU claims).. l

European POLICIES and ISSUES / Politics / EU-wide elected MEPs opposed by Socialists and Eurosceptics ?
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:38:53 AM
|
Strange impression that Socialists and Eurosceptics oppose Liberal Andrew Duff's proposal to start electing MEPs from an EU-wide list in he next EU Parliament Elections, supported by the EPP and others...
What's really behind this mig-mar ? Delays (by postponing EU Parliament's vote, etc) may render the proposal inapplicable, in real practice, to the 2014 EU Elections, and that would be a pitty.
Particularly when some (as f.ex. former EU Convention's Chairman, f. French President Giscard d'Estaing, etc) recently suggested to call for a "European Constituent Assembly" in Strasbourg on 2015...

European AGENDA / of European COUNTRIES / Election debate in Greece started and goes on...
|
on: July 08, 2011, 07:37:40 AM
|
Debates on whether fresh Elections should take place in Greece, for a strong popular mandate clearly supporting an Austerity program linked also to Growth/Production's competitiveness boost, have recently started and are still going on in Greece.
Earlier, PASOK's Prime Minister Giorgos Papandreou proposed to main Opposition New Democracy party a coalitio government, but when its leader, Antonis Samaras, accepted on condition that Papandreou quits and a new coalition government negotiates an updated program with the EU and IMF, then, PASOK's leader reportedly refused.
Greek people had voted for PASOK back in 2009 on the basis of a program to fund growth and boost the development of the country, rehecting out-going ND Prime Minister Karamanlis austerity recipe. But, afterwards, PASOK pushed for an even more intensive austerity, contrary to its pre-electoral promisses.
Meanwhile, on the polls, ND has reportedly started recently to outnumber PASOK, so that Samaras would apparently have an easy win if elections took place now or soon.
