91  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Medias -Education - Religion / InterReligious and larger participants in BioEthical debates to come on: March 07, 2009, 06:14:55 PM
An interesting Inter-Religious gathering and statement was recentely organised in Strasbourg, with its Mayor Ries, in order to launch a joint appeal to calm, democratic debate, mutual respect and tolerance, avoiding troubles and clashes related to the Middle East conflict.

Since long, there is a Plan to create a kind of panEuropean interReligious institution there, as already said at EU Parliament, at Strasbourg's various events, etc.

Now that Moral and BioEthical issues are due to become even more important, because of imminent decisions in the US, France, maybe Germany, etc. reviewing Legal rules on Genetics, Human Embryo, Tests, etc., it is obviously urgent to have the largest possible number of sincerely interested actors of Civil Society (NGOs, Experts, politicians, citizens, scientists, industry, etc), to get involved in Democratic Debates on such issues affecting the whole Society.

93  European CITIZENS and FORUM / European CITIZENSHIP / Re: ECJ : "No Visa" or no Human Rights, in times of Crisis ? on: February 28, 2009, 04:37:01 PM
.... - If any jobless, low-wage worker or ambitious, thirsty businessman from an Asiatic population of more than 70 millions can came inside the EU even "without Visa" to take immediately any job on "Services" from jobless EU Citizens, then, what does it mean to be an EU Citizen ?

....How can you motivate European People to fight to invent and build the "European dream" with that ?

....Bad message against European integration, particularly at this moment of Economic Crisis...

There is only one Democratic solution :  - Oblige Turkey to really respect Human Rights !

As long as even the number of denunciations of Torture and inhuman/degrading treatments continues top grow in Turkey, (according to the latest EU Parliament's draft Resolution), then, what you say might, unfortunately become true : Oppressed workers incited to flee for better wages and better treatment in the EU, etc.

But if People start to be treated correctly by the Turkish Authorities inside their own country, if their elementary Human and Social Rights start to be respected, instead of facing exceptionally grave violations, as until now, then their basic wages will normally grow, and/or, at least they would not be incited to flee an oppressive and retrograde environment in Turkey.

At least not to the point to risk even their lives in mass-trips organized by some "ambitious Turkish businessmen", as you say, with shaky Airplanes falling and killing or wounding people, as f.ex. in an earlier scandal involving a Turkish MEP in Germany whose airlines faced a big crash with hundreds of deaths, and now another Turkish plane in the Netherlands, etc....

Unfortunately, many People and experienced European officials or politicians denounce the fact that a few bureacrats in Brussels luxurious offices don't seem to really take seriously the Human Rights issue, at least as fas as Turkey is concerned. On the contrary, in real practice, they try to swip it under the carpet..

Only EU Citizens could wake them up !
