US President Obama's NSA was spying even on Vatican during the most crucial days just before the unprecedented resignation of Pope emeritus Benedict, up to the election of his successor, current Pope Francis, denounced Italian Media "Panorama", reported by mainstream Press Agencies.

"According to ...one of Italy’s two largest weekly magazines, the NSA monitoring began on Dec. 10, 2012", and “it is feared,....that phone calls were listened to up until the beginning of the conclave that elected Francis, the former Jorge Mario Cardinal Bergoglio of Argentina, on March 13" 2013.

"The monitored calls included those to the Casa Santa Marta guesthouse, where the soon-to-be pope and the rest of the College of Cardinals stayed during the conclave", New York Post reported. "The recorded Vatican phone calls were catalogued by the NSA in 4 categories: Leadership intentions, threats to the Financial system, Foreign-policy objectives and Human rights", (i.e. including BioEthics : a notoriously controversial issue between Pope emeritus Benedict and USPresident Obama)...
