46  European AGENDA / of European ORGANISATIONS / Syria added to Mediterranean + Neighborhood policy debates at EU Parliament on: April 02, 2011, 12:13:38 AM
After the recent violent events, including killings of protestors, and growing demonstrations in Syria asking mainly for Democratic Freedoms, EU Parliament added Damas in the extending list of Mediterranean a.o. 3rd Countries' situations (i.e. together with Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, etc. after Tunisia and Egypt, etc) due to be debated by EU Parliament next week in Strasbourg, together with EU's Neighborhood policy, with EU High Representative Baroness Cathy Ashton, etc.
47  European view on the WORLD / on Global ISSUES / Nuclear Proliferation Risks in Turkey grow after +Gul's Iran visit (etc)... on: February 21, 2011, 04:20:22 PM
Adding even a recent visit of Turkish President Gul  to Iran, the Nuclear Proliferation Risks, already obvious in the case of the Turkish Military, naturally grew further, making clearly irresponsible for anyone to eventually fall into any  sly trap with shady deals in Ankara...
48  European view on the WORLD / on International ORGANISATIONS / Germany at UNO's SC from Jan. 2011: Merkel - Sarkozy from EU to Global issues ? on: October 13, 2010, 04:05:14 AM
The entry of Germany at UNO's Security Council (that Portuguese Socialists and other US-led Lobbies vainly attempted to block) could change a lot of things, given the present state of Political affairs :

- In particular, the famous Sarkozy - Merkel Franco-German leaders' couple, after focusing initially on EU issues, could start, during 2011, (while France also chairs G8 - G20), to usefully operate also on Global issues, not only on Economy, but also on Global Governance Politics and Security, etc.

That would be an interesting development ...
49  European view on the WORLD / on Geopolitical REGIONS / Brazil needs a Change on: October 03, 2010, 04:54:09 AM

*  Because Brazil was isolated in the UNO Security Counciil recently when old Lula committed the blunder to stick to a notoriously oppressive, undemocratic Turkish State abusing even of Torture, over Islamic Iran's chief, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's Nuclear Bomb materials' controversy.

* Old Lula da Silva (forgetting all his previously critical positions when he was younger, in a sudden U-turn) astonishingly obeyed to USA's desiderara, and betrayed E.U., Russia, Australia, Developing and other Countries at UNO's Copenhagen Summit on Climate Change, contributing to its failure to take drastic measures to protect Natural Environment a gainst CO2 Pollution. To the point that, f.ex. the popular Australian Socialist f. Prime Minister Kevin Rudd never understood why this happened, and lost his job shortly afterwards, the Center-Right winning more votes.

* On the contrary, opposition leader José Serra is topically famous also for daring to oppose Multinational Pharmaceutic Companies in order to ensure Poor People's access to Medicine, thanks to generic drugs.

Being of Italian Family origin and having studied also in France, Serra could have better relations with Europe, while also keeping good relations with the USA where most of the brillant University career of this multi-Elected Brazilian Politician (son of a Poor immigrant) evolved, being apparently more adequat for a more Democratic, Multi-Polar World.

* Finally, it's not so important if a never elected "Technocrat" as Dilma Roussef (old Lula's successor) is favorable to Abortion, or not : At any case, she is for Genetic Manipulation of Human Embryos, which is even more Deadly and much more Dangerous....

Recent facts (comp. above) clearly show that she would persist, and probably aggravate, old Lula's strange U-turn towards a quasi-total alignement to the USA, (despite her Bulgarian origin), definitively droping, in real practice, any independently-minded, previous claim, (and thereby losing even any leadership among Latin American Nations)..

Initial Polls reportedly gave José Serra winning at a large margin, after attributing at Dilma Roussef a tie, and later-on a favorable edge But, if on this Sunday, Brazilian People refuse to give an absolute Majority to old Lula's collaborator, then, on the second round, at the end of the Month, Serra might not only broker a deal with the third, "Green" candidate, (f.ex. based on BioEthics, where PTD notoriously is pro-Technocrat, neglecting too much Human Values), but, more important, attract a growing number of Citizens which would go to vote if they saw that a Change is possible at the Horizon.

50  European AGENDA / of European ORGANISATIONS / EU 2014-2020 Financial Perspectives debate coming (Big Political issues in view! on: September 01, 2010, 03:17:45 AM
The long-awaited debate on EU Financial Perspectives after 2014 is due to start soon, through EU Parliament probably also in Strasbourg, even if decisions are expected during 2011.

The main point is EU's own Future : Some lobbies have been notoriously pushing, in secret, for Turkey's controversial and impopular EU bid around 2013-2014+, already since the end of 1990ies !

Something which would provoque a huge upheaval (a kind of "Tsunami "!) not only against Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms inside the EU, but also against EU Agricultural and Cohesion Funds, (necessary also for EU's own socio-political integration), as well as to the detriment of EU's available Budgetary means to fund also other policies, both External (f.ex. Development Aid to poor countries), and internal (f.ex. investment in Scientific and Technologic Innovation), etc.

Obviously, the "Social Dumping" committed by some 3rd States, as Turkey, etc., in addition to grossly violating Human Rights of People obliged to do low-level work at lower price, it also downgrades EU's level of production by inciting to stop investing in High-Tech, and start dealing with Low-level merchandises or even services (f.ex. Mass-Tourism, old cars' outsourcing, raw materials, etc.)

51  European view on the WORLD / on International ORGANISATIONS / UNO's SC/SG Busy on Turkish maverick Mavi Marmara Ship from 1 to 11 August 2010 on: August 15, 2010, 04:26:52 AM

An Exceptional Concentration of UNO SG and UNO Security Council (chaired by Russia this Month) activities, during the first 10 Days of August (1 to11/8/2010), took place at New York on the Turkish maverick Mavi Marmara Ship affair, to set up a Panel, define the Procedure and start a new Enquiry on the brutal, violent provocations apparently committed by a controversial Turkish Group accused of mass "Lynch" attacks against isolated Israeli Marines surrounded and hit with many Metal Rodes, Sticks, Knives, Stun Grenades, thrown over board, probably even shot with Bullets from stolern guns, (as shown by many Videos, most filmed by Turkish assaillants), leading afterwards to allegedly excessive use of force by unprepared soldiers pushed to act to defend themselves and free theilr comrades, resulting in 9 killed and some 21 wounded, including several Israeli Marines, during the only burst of violence ever seen among numerous other Foreign attempts to transport by Sea Humanitarian aid to Gaza residents, which, on the contrary, were all Peaceful, both before, during and after this isolated Turkish exception.

UNO's Press Releases issued on August 2, 3, 4, 9 and 12 (about meetings held the 10 and 11 at NY), for the first time after two Months of inactivity, (the last UNO statement dating from .. June 5 !), attest, indeed, of an accelerated overload of UN decisions on this matter, which had been scheduled for the first 10 Days of the Russian Presidency of UNO's Security Council this Month, (at the same time while Moscow was notoriously struggling to survive against unprecedented Fires, Smog and Heatwave killing more than 800 People each Day, threatening Major Nuclear and Defence infrastructures, etc).

This was also the last opportunity for an Independent, Neutral third Country (as f.ex. Russia, on August) to chair UNO's SC on this Turkish - Israeli controversy, before Turkey itself takes over the rotating chair of UN SC on September, when it was decided for the Panel to present its conclusions (15/9/210), despite the obvious conflict of interest...

52  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Enlargement - Foreign Policy / EU Sanctions on Iran Oil/Gas , OK in principle, mustn't be manipulated on detail on: July 21, 2010, 08:30:26 AM
EU Sanctions on Iran Oil/Gas, correct in principle, shouldn't be manipulated on details.

EU's will to extend Iran Sanctions also towards Oil/Gas because of Nuclear proliferation risks, seem logical as a matter of Principle, which has reportedly been agreed by all countries involved.

But, apparently, an obscure Lobby attempts to provoke counter-productive divisions between EU Member Countries before Final, concrete Decisions, while, also curiously, ... favoring the notorious plans of Turkey (the recent Troublemaker in the area, with its isolated attempts to cover-up Iran's Nuclear intransigeance, Brutally provoke Violent clashes with Israel, etc) to abuse of Iranian Oil/Gas via too expensive, and risky Pipelines !

F.ex. it looks strange to put the accent against Ship Transport of Liquefied Gas and Oil, which could be done directly by EU Ships, (that EU can Stop or Go whenever it wants), while, at the same time, Turkey, a trouble-maker and unreliable Third, Foreign Country, would be let free to accaparate Iran's Oil/Gas exports via Pipelines crossing Turkey, i.e. without any real possibility for the EU to control the situation, (f.ex. what is going on around Diyarbakir) !...

It's also irrational to curiously .. Favor those who grossly Misbehaved (as Turkey), and provoke useless Problems to those who kept a correct stance...

This dangerous Contradiction, between, from one side, the Strategic Political Objectives, decided by EU Heads of State/Government, in coherence with the recent Events involving Turkish Provocations vis a vis Israel, and        Turkey's attempts over Iran's Enriched Uranium, etc. and, from the other side, an EU Commision's and EU Council Secretariat's partly controversial Draft  about "Concrete Measures", due to be decided later this Month, obviously threaten to provoke some last-minute Problems, which are both unnecessary and easily avoidable.

EU Leaders' main Political Will must not be manipulated and outplayed  by any obscure, counter-productive Lobby, neither in Iran's obviously dangerous case, (considering also Turkey's recent irresponsible opportunism), nor elsewhere !
53  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Enlargement - Foreign Policy / Iceland EU enlargment decision boosts Arctic Ocean Oil/Gas EU rights+ on: June 19, 2010, 12:35:58 PM
June 2010 EU Summit's decision to open full Membership negotiations with Iceland will naturally strengthen EU's rights over huge Oli/Gas resources said to be at the Arctic Ocean.

Moreover it's an Historically and Culturally European Country, without any immigration or integration problem, Developed, Educated, well-behaving and Peacefull.

If the new UK Government Conservarive-Liberal coalition really wants EU Enlargment joined to Common Values able to forge a strong EU Political Will, (as new Prime Minister Cameron f.ex. just said at his Brussels' Press Conference on the occasion of more EU Sanctions vis a vis Iran's dangerous Nuclear Proliferation moves), then, this would obviously be better inspired to focus on European Countries such as Iceland, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Moldavia, Ukraine, etc., (hopefully also Norway and Switzerland, etc), instead of former UK Socialist/Labour government's Turkish mania...

54  European view on the WORLD / on Geopolitical REGIONS / Asian Turkey Consultative Forum starts on: June 08, 2010, 05:04:33 AM

2010 Asian Turkey political gathering started with most, but not all, Asian States sending representatives to Turkey for the CICA Consultative Forum, which meets every two or four Years at different countries on a rotating basis. Exceptionally, EurAsian Russia takes part, while USA are Observers, obviously interested in anything might concern Asian Energy Sources, fex. in Azerbaidjan, Kazahkstan, Kirgistan, Iraq, Iran, etc.

Created in 2002 at the initative of Kazakshtan, the Asian Consultative Forum on Confidence Building Measures met also in 2008.. CICA Members include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestinian Authority, Republic of Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates,Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Iraq.

But many other Asian States have not accepted yet to become members, and it was still unclear who might be present (and at what level), or absent.
55  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Enlargement - Foreign Policy / Gas found at Israeli Coasts reveals real motif of Turkish violent provocation... on: June 03, 2010, 11:55:00 PM
The official anouncement yesterday that abundant Gas fields have been discovered around the Maritime Coasts of Israel, at the Eastern Mediterranean Sea facing Cyprus on May 2010, (according to suggestions we already made a long time ago, since many years : 2002-2004 +), reveals why Turkey has suddenly launched various Violent Provocations against Israel, targetting precisely the Sea Coastline...

South-Eastern Mediterranean's Geology being similar to that of Mexico's Gulf, British Petroleum's recent oil leak there, (provoked in still unclear, strange, controversial circumstances), shouldn't be without any relation to attempts to block Oil-Gas findings at the South-Eastern Mediterranean area...
56  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Culture - Art- Sport - Tourism - Leisure / Re: Turkish Tourist Deadly Crash reveals Bad Transport conditions on: May 25, 2010, 09:03:55 PM

Quote from: Ivan
.. Turkish Tourist Deadly Crash reveals Bad Transport conditions ...

Or, perhaps, ..Chechen Terrorism ?

Victims are Russians.
No serious cause has been yet officially established. Moscow asks to make its own Investigation. Turkish extremists were demonstrating at Istanbul in favor even of Chechen Terrrorists who were cowards enough to kidnap and kill Hundreds of Russian Children at Beslan School, September 2004, (etc+). Given all these Facts, nothing can be excluded from the outset.

I.e., Both Risks seem to exist in Turkey : Terrorism(s) + Bad conditions for Transports.
57  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Politics / Hungarian Fidesz' success good for EU Future debate !? on: April 25, 2010, 11:25:10 PM

Today's Historic Victory of Hungary's center-right party Fidesz (ChristianDemocrats/EPP)", led by Victor Orban, with some 286 MPs in comparison to only 59 for Socialists and 47 for Rightist Jobbik, 16 for the "Greens", etc. might add a strong impulsion for the forthcoming EU-wide Debate on Europe's Future, (after the imminent publication of EU wisemen's Draft Report on May 2010).

Indeed, when Hungary had chaired the CoE, back in 1999, also with Victor Orban, Budapest's visitors were surprised to find at the Hungarian Capital plenty of concrete references to Historic struggles to save at least part of the City from the Ottoman Military Occupation and declin. Issues as such of Europe's Identity were at the top in Hungary then...
58  European view on the WORLD / on Geopolitical REGIONS / Solar Electricity link EU - Africa : TransGreen added to Desertec on: March 28, 2010, 06:16:52 PM
Franco - German cooperation intends to create interesting inks between EU and Africa on Energy, including by using New Technologies on Renewable Energy Sources as the Solar :

- Indeed, a useful complement to the Germany-led "Desertec" Plan to create Solar Energy at Sahara, is France-led proposal to establish Electricity Transport Links between the EU and the Southern part of the Mediterranean, particularly for power from the Sun, called "TransGreen".

African Sahara, at the North of the Continent, has the biggest Uninhabited Areas in the World, particularly well exposed to the Sun, which could boost Economies of Scale for a Big Solar Energy Production Network linked to the EU from Spain (via Gibraltar), up to Greece (via Crete) and Cyprus, as well as Italy (via Malta and Sicilia), France (via Sardaigne and Corsica), etc.

Once brought inside the EU, Solar Energy-produced Electricity should be able to be easily transported towards Germany and other Central-Northern EU Member Countries through EU's own Electricity grids network.
59  European view on the WORLD / on Global ISSUES / An A400M for Haiti ? Damn, it can't flight so far away !... on: January 17, 2010, 03:43:19 PM

Since some claim that controversial A400M military transport airplane project "flied" on December 2009, then why wait longer, when there is urgency ?

>>> If it's like this, EU should immediately send many A400M airplanes to urgently help Haiti, where hunderds of thousands of people face the worst threats against their lives, health and safety, after the devastating earthquake !

But, .... somebody has just told me what nobody dares say to our beloved "mainstream" Media : Simply the Truth :

-  I.e. that this damned old thing, the A400M old cuckoo canNOT fly so far away. Neither now, nor in the future. Because it's range is limited only to a small area around the EU and can't reach overseas targets, which are located so far away as Haiti, EU Space Base at Kuru (French Guyane), or Afghanistan, etc. So, it's not so bad that A400M was not ready when the Tsunami stroke South Asia back in 2005, since it couldn't even reach it...

On the contrary, meanwhile, Russia already sent more than 4 Ilyuchin Airplanes to help Haiti, transporting many men, first aid logistics and even an Helicopter... While anyone able to use a US-made Boeing C-17 can do the same, as well as with an Ukranian-made Antonov, etc.

Only that poor old thing : A400M is, unfortunately, unable to make it !

In fact, it has only one "big" range : That of money, costing more than 22 Billions € ! So, at least, those who want to sell it, are able to transport in their pockets more than 22 Billions €...

That's a consolation.
60  European POLICIES and ISSUES / Enlargement - Foreign Policy / Old Commission stops 500 m. to European country Ukraine, lets 1Billion to Turkey on: January 08, 2010, 08:21:43 PM
Out-going EU Commission to block 500 million € for European Country Ukraine, but spend 1 Billion € for Turkey ?!..

Will the out-going EU Commission (2004-2009) block 500 Million € of aid to Ukraine, (an obviously European Country from History since Ancient times, Culture and Geography, strategically important also for its existing Oil/Gas transit and Military Airplane "Antonov", both urgently needed by the EU, as the present Snow-Cold Weather and old A400M's failure show), while, at the same time, it prepare to fund ..Turkey's controversial and unpopular EU bid up to 1 Billion € ?

Press reports denounce an imminent such move during the fothcoming Week-end. This is not only contrary to the official recognition of Ukraine as "a European Country" by French President Sarkozy when he chaired the EU in 2008, but also dangerously against real European interests :

- By depriving Kiev from Money when it has to pay Moscow for Energy, obviously this risks also to artificially provoke problems in the transit of Gas from Russia to the EU via Ukraine, much needed now to face a record-breaking Cold weather..

- And instead of agreeing a deal with Ukraine on an Airbus-Antonov cooperation for a cheaper and more performant Military  Transport Airplane, some push EU Countries to spend more than ..22 + 8 = 30 Billions € for an old costly project of the 1980ies (!) : The limited range A400M, which was adopted in dubious circumstances (after a non-elucidated Deadly crash of "Concord" in Paris on 7/2000, when US-oriented "Socialist" Governments wanted to boost Turkey's controversial EU bid by giving Ankara an opportunity to sell raw materials), has been delayed too much, and is only a low-tech "Bus" restricted to a small local Region around EU, unable to fly far enough, (unlike USA's big "Globetrotters" etc).

Last, but not least, such moves are Unpopular : - Who would dare leave Europeans really free to choose between Ukraine and Turkey ?.
