The unprecedented aggression against a Ship crossing European waters, (never seen since more than 150 Years !), which transported Finnish wood with Russian staff under Malta's flag towards Algeria, came while competition between Russian, Turkish and other means to transport Energy for Europe becomes harsh.

Turkey (and an anti-European lobby hidden behind it) is notoriously limited only into expensive, too long and risky pipeline routes, wasting time and money through uncertain zig-zags : Nowadays, it obviously needs to urgently exploit any way which might block some gas from elsewhere hoping to fill controversial Nabucco pipeline plan's supplies, which are largely empty.

While Russia has various shorter and cheaper ways to reach EU countries, by land and/or sea : But it needs to face artificially provoked obstacles..

In addition, EU can create its own means to reach several Energy producing countries by new, short, cheap and direct ways, (mainly by short pipelines linked to new technologies and Ships) : It needs diplomatic and technologic innovation.

Russia, (with EU + NATO cooperation) succeeded to save the Arctic Sea ship and arrest the aggressors. But not yet those who send them...

What is really at stake is Europe's strength among the galloping World-wide Global competition to control energy.

"Control" means power : In fact its a Security and Defence issue.
