Russia agreed with EU Member Bulgaria a "RoadMap" to build a new "DIRECT" link to the European Union for Gas transport via the "South Stream" pipeline, planned to cross Black Sea and Balkans (Bulgaria, Greece) towards Italy, France, etc., as well as towards Hungary, Austria and Germany (via Romania and/or Serbia), etc.

Other Direct EU - Rusia gas transport links planned are "North Stream" through  the Baltic Sea towards Germany, etc., and the Black Sea - Danube/Rhine Rivers link through Romania (and/or Ukraine), Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Germany , France, the Netherelands, etc, able to go as far as up to the Northern Sea (facing the UK, Atlantic Ocean, etc) in future, to replace its declining energy deposits with new.

All these 3 new projects are part of an overall GeoPolitical Strategy to create DIRECT EU - Russia links.
