EU Parliament's President Schulz hailed EU - Morocco Privileged Partnership as Model for Mediterranean area shortly before MEPs debate and vote on Turkey's controversial and unpopular EU bid, later this week in Brussels' Mini Session, according to official sources on his 22-25 March visit to the country for the "Union for Mediterranean" Assembly (UFM - PA).

    - "The Privileged Partnership between the EU and Morocco rests on solid foundations", confirmed from the outset EU Parliament's New President, German Socialist MEP Martin Schulz, after he marked the 1st meeting with the King by an EUP head "in 12 Years", (i.e. since 1999, when EU recognized a controversial "Candidate" status to another Mediterranean State, Turkey, with even more Muslim population today than Morocco, to which EU had earlier refused such a status).

    - " ..Morocco ....can veritably aspire to be a role Model for other countries, in the Arab world and .... in the Region", "if (it) continues on its path of reforms", EU Parliament's President stressed, "sharing" with the Morocco King a "Commitment to deepen the Euro-Mediterranean partnership", particularly in view of Schulz's "UFM" Assembly's chairmanship, (where all EU Countries, and Mediterranean Arab States, Turkey and Israel are Members), which has just started for a year (March 2012 - March 2013).

+ Schulz "welcomed" also Morocco's "encouraging efforts towards Regional Cooperation" with all its Neighbours without any exception, which is "a necessary condition for increased prosperity and security in the region", as he said.

Morocco's Government had recently criticized, during an International Economic Conference in Paris, the fact that all 3rd Foreign Countries, Neighbours of the EU, receive less than 2 or 3 € per inhabitant, while Turkey, on the contrary, is paid by the EU more than "9 € per inhabitant" yearly, (i.e.  X 400 % or 500 % more !), under the only przetext of Ankara's notoriously controversial and unpopular EU bid.

EU pays, each year, more than 850 Millions € to the Turkish Government as full Grants, (i.e. something equivalent to almost 50 Billions € in low interest Loans, as well as to the cost of EU's most important Space Program : Known as "Global Monitoring for Environment and Security", alias GMES, currently threatened, according to many MEPs from various Political Parties, to be ecluded from EU's Multi-Annual Financial Framework 2013-2020, because of the growing Lack of EU Funds).

* EuroCorps, EU defence's etat major, which has just celebrated 15 years of age (1993 - 2008), is young enough to feel enthousiasm for missions to guarantee Human Rights, Peace and reconcilation : Strasbourg's Historic Symbols, but also maturing fast, (particularly under the current French EU Presidency), in order to prepare potentialy important developments in 2009 :

- "EUROCORPS" is a "unique tool" for "a Modern Europe", jointly managed by participating Nations without anyone deciding for others", to "support their efforts to promote Reconciliation, Peace and Human Rights' Values, which identify today's European ideal, with its Symbol-City : Strasbourg", stressed its Chief, Spanish General Pedro PITARCH, in a popular ceremony for the 15th Anniversary of the European Army Corps, at its Headquarters.

- "Today, we are ready and able to fullfil any Peace-keeping Mission may be decided by the Political leadership, since we can deploy up to 60.000 soldiers and/or other agents, mainly in land, but in coordination with Sea and Air operarions", (even to build vital Infrastructures, demining, keep public order, facilitate Elections, etc), said to EuroFora EUROCORPS' Spokesman and Press Director, Colonel Raul SUEVOS.

EU Parliament asked, Summer 2008 in Strasbourg, " to place Eurocorps as a standing force under EU command", and "invited all (EU) Member States to contribute to it".

France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, and Luxembourg (participating with Funds, Telecoms and Officers), are EUROCORPS"' main "Framework Nations", due to be joined by Italy in 2009. Greece and Austria participate as "Contributing Nations", while Poland decided to upgrade its role. Turkey has liaison Officers for NATO relations, and even USA decided to send Officers to Strasbourg on 2009.

Observers await with impatience also the outcome of NATO's April 2009 Summit in Strasbourg in order to have a better view of EuroCorps' future.

Polls

2009 EU Elections were won by Parties against Technocracy and Turkey's controversial EU bid, while the 1999-2004 Majority Abstention trend decelerated. What should be done in 2009-2014 ?
